Re: Glad to be here!

Welcome Steven - I'm not very active on this forum anymore since I sold my Trojan a couple years ago. Every now and again I drop in just to read some posts. I just happened to see yours and wanted you to know that my girl friend lives in St. Joe also and I am there very often. I had a 36' Trojan Tri...

Re: Hello - F36 Tri-Cabin owners in specific

I owned a 1979 Trojan Tri-cabin for about 12 years and sold it just a few years ago. It's a great boat. Make sure you get one with a sound hull and mechanically sound engines & transmissions. All the rest is personal preference. I happened to get a gem. The hull was very sound and quite dry for ...

A fond farewell

I sold my '79 Tri-cabin a couple months ago and bought a Carver Mariner. My Tri-cabin was my first venture into the world of bigger boats and twin engine drives. I had SeaDog for 10 years and enjoyed every minute aboard. I came to trust her as we went through some rough water and bad weather scenari...

Re: replacing ac on 1978 tri cabin

I just sold my '79 Tri-cabin but I replaced the A/C about 5 years ago. The unit in mine was a MarinAire A/C with reverse cycle heating. It only had one unit that was 16,000 BTU/hr which cooled the entire boat very well. As a mater of fact the people who bought the boat cited the A/C as one of the de...

Re: What is that on the transom?

The second photo of it, showing it longitudinally, seems to show a handrail on the starboard side indicating that it likely is a gang plank.

Re: How not to replace a fuel tank

Are they parting the boat out before they totally scrap it or is someone really that stupid?

Re: SP Tanks and replacement fuel tanks

I purchased two 125 gallon AL tanks from SP about 7 years ago for my tri-cabin and they have been totally maintenance-free. Very satisfied with the tanks.

Interesting Trojan Story

I visited the Maritime Museum in Ludington, MI this week and was very interested to read the following account which comes directly from a display in the museum. I took pics of the display and copied the text below. If anyone wants a copy of the pics I took to see the display for themselves please P...

Re: complete loss of steering

I had a similar issue two years ago on my '79 Tri-cabin. Mine was a cylinder with seals that failed and I had the cylinder rebuilt for about $150 at a local industrial hydraulics distributor. My local marina removed and re-installed the cylinder since I can't get down there due to age and physical c...

Re: Aaron Bocknek -- 1960 to 2016

Wow - really sad news. When i first bought my tri-cabin he wrote me email after email helping me understand SeaDog's systems. Knew he was battling a recurrence but didn't know how serious it truly was.

He will be missed.

Re: Tri-cabin windshield bolt question

I also have a '79 Tri-cabin and have the original windshield removal and replacement instructions that came inside the owner's manual as a separate document. It appears to have a complete bill of materials for all hardware and other expendables used in the process. I have sent it to many others here...

Thanks for all of the good advice. Looks like I have my work cutout for me. But it sounds like the results will justify the effort.

Compounding Question

Has anyone used Meguiars 67 One Step Compound? If so what was your experience and recommendations? Planning to use it with an orbital and the top is pretty heavily oxidized.

Re: Sandblasting Swim Platform

Consider this, I took mine off, went to a furniture builder and had it power planned by 1/16 top side and 1/32 bottom. No black stains (gone) then sanded ( 80 grit / 120 / then 150 ) then 5 coats of cetol. Amazing. Each tear a light scuff and a new coat of cetol. That sounds like a good idea too, a...
