Re: Onan won't stop.
Ok, gave the genset a start this AM just to let it run a bit. I hit the switch to shut it down and it won't shut down. So I went to the switch on the genset and it too won't shut it down. I pulled one battery cable off and it shut down. So, is this a ground problem? Should that be somewhere between...

shift levels, mine seem to be getting more stift
to move, (that is hard to move) and I dont think it is because it is getting cold outside, I think they need lubed, but my question is where? underneath the control up by the shifters or back on the engine/transmission or both? of is there another else I should look at? right now, all is working, bu...

I put a new fuel pump on my MCCK this season. I used a Facet, which was OE for my spec J set, but I got it from Facet and not Onan which saved some loot. (a lot of loot actually) Seemingly the old pumps will still move fuel, but not at the proper pressure when they get old and you get random shutdo...

6.5 onan genny mcck fuel issue
My genny is getting close to genning again, but I have a hard time keeping it running. We are pretty sure it is a fuel issue, as we have cleaned out the realively new carb, several times. Each time it has the 'gunk' assoicated with the ethonal gas in it. I have changed the filter on the fuel pump as...

. I've wanted the look of teak since I bought the boat . Plus, I always thought the mid cabin platform was too narrow and I don't like the big gap between the transom. Bob My dog feels the same way. when he climbs the ladder to get back in the boat, he gets his paw stuck between the platform and th...

6.5 mcck onan genny clean fuel prooblem
as mentioned, I am having a hard time keeping my genny running. I (we) believe it is a fuel issue, specifically clean fuel. I changed the element in the fuel/water seperator from the gas tank to the genny, I cleaned the filter on the fuel pump. it runs for a while and quits. We took the carb apart s...

Great job Barry! I'm the guy who's trying to figure out what to do with the seats and bolsters. I'm going to try to get a second price locally this week. If the price is too high I may give it a try after seeing your pics! thanks for posting the pics. I had mine seats/side bolsters redone this year...

depending on water conditions, i do a mary kate on/off acid flush of the cooling system every other month. what this does is clear all the schmutz and critters from the system, and, since my onan is raw water cooled, it's of the utmost importance. get a spare one or two foot length of 1/2 inch hose...

next question, 6.5 mcck onan genny shuts down
my mcck onan genny shuts down after about an hr or so of running. We worked to get this thing going again, and seemed to have everything right. It pumps good raw water, I replaced the thermal cutoff switch with a new one. Cleaned up the carb real good, and had it running like a top. But after about ...

you guys are making me paranoid re: stringers
I have an 87 mid cabin. I was in the engine compartment fooling around and noticed the stringers were cut in a 'half moon' to allow the mufflers to have clearence. I do not know if this was factory or not. I noticed that they did not reglass the stringer, and now it appears where it was not reglasse...
