the very little bit that I know
is that it is either fuel or spark. have you tried spraying in some starter fluid? if it starts on that but then quits running that tells you fuel. if it does not start on that, it tells you spark. I did a search this am, and there are some good places to get old onan generator manuels (I have mine,...

water pump impeller change in genny
I have an 87 10 meter mid cabin with the orginal onan genny (MCE??) anyway, the genny was working fine, but now it wont pump water, and we tried everything to do so, now we conclude it must be the impellar or that impeller housing is sucking air. anyway to change the impeller last time we took off t...

Depending on shaft size, how long it's been on, even with a puller and on land- this could be VERY difficult. In the water without a puller.????? Good luck!!! I do have one request if you try this... Please film the whole experience and post it on here. If by some miracle your able to beat the prop...

So - forget about this plan. Slip that vessel or pull it in any area where you'll have a base (without waves). And borrow some prop puller from your marina. -- Greetings - Heiner that would be nice if we could do that, no trailer for the boat, no prop puller at the marina (or anything else although...

underwater/inwater prop change updated!
my friend asked me to change his prop (straight shafts) while his boat is in the water. I am a diver, but have never done this while the boat is in the water( or land for that matter). Any hints? we do not have a prop puller, but we do have a #8 hammer! I'll take any quiedence, and if successful, wi...

Not knowing any different, I brought my old ones in (with holes) and they made them the same. After sitting for a couple of weeks screwed down, I removed all the screws and just filled the holes with the DOW 795 (I said 395 in my prior post). If you remove the portlight and re-bed with this stuff, ...

do you mid cabin guys have screws in the fixed portlights as well? I had two new ones made last year and replicated what was already there which has two screws in each of the 4 sides. Anyway, I used DOW 395 adhesive along with plastic washers (as shims) along the edge so you get a nice bead that do...

My sky lights have no screws just held in by the silicone. thanks guys keep it coming. from what I have been told (John at marine tech) they aren't supposed to have screws. that somewhere along the lines of ownership, somebody decided that they needed screwed down (and they did with mine) I think I...

leaky sky lite ports what's the best caulk to use
I have a10 meter mid cabin (2 side port widows, 2 sky lights, a step up to the helm from the rear deck I think makes it a mid cabin) anyway, the sky lights are leaking, the 'glass' is okay, but I tried to re chaulk them last yr using what the local auto glass guy recommended, but they leak. so I am ...

Re: 6.5 onan
Started a project on my 19981 gen set. I have had the carb rebuilt, 2 hew thermostats, all new hoses, gas pump, and impeller. Had to take intake head off since it was clogged and cleaned it out. Starts up fine, giving out plenty of juice, but very little water is being pumped out. Mechanic says its...

did the antifreeze come from the generator engine? (closed cooled)if so, you have much bigger problems not sure what you mean, when I winterizied, I took the intake house into an antifreexe bucket, and let it run to it went out the exhaust (just like the water does) so it makes sense that there mig...
