genny/ governor ?? issues
I have an Onan 6.5 genny probably an 1987 model, because that is the year of my boat. I finally got it genny good, but now I am having an issue with the governor. My understanding is that when you put on a load, there is something (the governor??) that is supposed to make the genny run faster, so th...

The generator isn't working for more than 35-40 mins. We didnt need it this weekend, and I know that the exhaust temp sensor is broken. Could this be causing it to shut down? I've already purchased a new one, but the part has changed vs the one I have now and requires additional work before I can in...

updage
I just wanted to update in case someone does a search in the future. I figured the grinding noise was the pump motor, so I took it off, and went to the rebuild shop. Well it is a 'sealed' unit and they couldn't do it. so I sucked it up and got the Sealand rebuild kit, it comes with the motor (the ne...

I went thru the same thing. I just put a wire from my charger to the gen battery to keep it charged. Of course on here that solution was about 50/50 that was right or wrong. Many say the gen is supposed to keep the battery charged, but there would have to be some sort of wire from the gen to battery...

vac u flush problems
I am having problems with my vac u flush vacum generator. It seemed to be working ok, but then started tripping the breaker after a few seconds. so I replaced the breaker. That seemed to help but not totally. Now it sounds different. It used to sound like a bunch of bellows pumping, not it sounds mo...

how about neither!!! we parallel park next to the dock with the bows facing up the river (into the current). some guy tried putting finger slips on the dock, worked fine until the river floods and the current starts ripping 6-8 knots, ripped everything apart!! So I nose in, put a line on the bow, re...

It might look that way at first glance... but consider this: what if the tapers are not identical? Do you not think the nut on a flat flange (as I suggest) vs the single bolt closing these non matching tapers might not be better. One does not need extra surface area to transmit the Voltage/Current ...

I am not sure, it has a post on it, I believe is tapered, but only slightly, it has post sticking up that has a wing nut/nut that spins on them. I using one from your link called 'universal connectors'. I think I would like to buy pre made wires with connectors on them. The one you should use is th...

That end connector is using a nut/bolt connected type of battery post or tapered clamp a la auto? If the latter you are certainly adding up your weak points for a marine application. :( probably so, do you have a link for a better solution?? I would love to see something and am willing to try. We d...

well here is my up date. the gear heads (of which I am not) around the dock have always told me, 'fix the simplest thing first'. I took out both starting batteries, 1 relatively new, 2-3 yrs old from Napa, and the other an Interstate that must be 5-6 yrs old, time flies!!! I have a hard time finding...

this weekend I had some battery issues. I think the long and short of it is I need 2 new batteries, they are 3-4 yr old. But I will throw a few questions out. I replaced the generator battery last week as it was at least 2 yrs old. this weekend at the port with the shore power hooked up, everything ...
