Re: 10 Meter International Express

Wow...1 NMPG at 20 knots? One of the most fuel efficient 10 meters I've ever seen. And no trim tabs. Very unique.

Re: Caulk

Teak has natural oils that will prevent good adhesion with caulk. You can wipe the surface oil off by wiping the area you want to caulk with acetone. I would recommend 3M 4000 UV caulk, as it has more adhesion properties than silicone, yet can still be removed easily. It is also UV resistant, so it ...

Re: Teak Work

I think epoxy will work well. Take some clear unthickened epoxy in a syringe and run it along the cracks. Then find some big clamps and clamp the entire pulpit to close the gaps. Let it dry for 24 hours. I would then sand down any high points and put 2 to 3 coats of clear epoxy over the entire surfa...

Re: Repair or sell my F32 opinions please

This is my suggestion if you plan on keeping it for a couple of years; Find the border of the bad area, and draw lines marking the edges. Start drilling holes (1/4 to 1/2") throughout the entire area. Take a shop vac and vacuum out any loose material or moisture. If its wet, you need to dry it ...

Re: What type of oil should I use

Do you think with the advances of synthetic oil, that there is a continued need for heavy oils? The greatest wear is during cold start ups, and marine engines run cooler because of access to cooling water. Even though they are running at 3000 to 4000, its still less than racing motors, and certainly...

Re: Fixing Detached Fiberglass

There were some steel pontoons and a rack beside the boat and I anchored some vertical planks to those. Then a sheet of plywood to provide the backing for my 'pressure rods' To try to even the pressure across the half of the repair I was doing, I used corrogated cardboard then 1/2" polyfoam an...

Re: Repair or sell my F32 opinions please

And yet all boats are fixer uppers Exactly. Please show me a boat on this forum that is not a fixer upper. It's the level of fixer upper that is the difference. If you don't like to work on stuff yourself, get out of boating. Or save your dollars for lottery tickets... There are 3 types of boat own...

Re: 1995 Trojan 390 Carver Express windshield reservoir line

I have your boat's predecessor, the 10.8 Meter International Express. I too had the windshield squirters, but mine were run through the freshwater system. There was a relay pump under the port side cover for the arch. That relay pump was directly attached to the cold water side of my freshwater syst...

Re: Repair or sell my F32 opinions please

How much have you invested so far? How bad are the floors? Is it a safety issue? Are you handy? Do you want to learn to do fiberglass work? There are a lot of "what ifs" . From my experience, people will always tell me to go get another boat in lieu of doing a project. But I have done a to...
