engine rotation

Still a bit of a newbie on inboard boats. Got to replace the starter. Got a 96 or 97 year model Crusader 350 XL. Just to confirm engine rotation so I order the correct starter, when the engine/transmission is in forward the shaft, prop etc. is rotating counter clockwise. Am I correct this is called ...

Re: F-26 Deadrise

I put an Aimar B60 in about the same location on my F26 as you are describing but a little further out toward starboard. I think I remember the hull angle where I cut the hole was around 10 degrees. I installed the 12 degree tilted element and it is working fantastic. And another thing I may have ju...

boat finished

Finally got boat done enough to transport down to Destin. Just in time for last day of red snapper in Fed. waters. First sea trial went good. A bit swelly starting out. Around 3 to 4 foot. She handled this very good. No issue with following sea coming back through pass either. Best of all, seems lik...

trim tab question

I have the older boat leveler hydraulic system. One of the trim tabs will not raise on its own. It will go down on its own, no problem. It will come up with just a slight nudge from someone outside pushing up while I operate the switch. The other tab raises fine on its own. This tab that does not co...

Re: cutless bearing

Thanks for the replys. Got new cutless in this time without no problem. I built that homemade press tool with threaded rod. Also put cutless in freezer overnight this time and heated strut again. Slid right in with minimal pressure. Don't know if the freezer and heat thing helped that much but I was...

cutless bearing

Hey guys I may have me a rather dumb question but I am fixing to try and replace my new cutless bearing for the second time. The first new replacement went in through strut about 3/4 way then stopped. Nothin would get it further or even back out. So I ended up having to cut it and sorta peel it out ...

Re: Anyone need a good laugh?

I am with you. Wierd.. I don't like that. I mostly fish offshore and have on occassion marked a spot with GPS that ended in triple 6's. I never wrote that in my coordinates book. Of course being off one number at the end of the seconds would not amount to a few feet so it really did not matter if I ...

trim tab switch

Hey guys I am putting the final touches on my F 26 renovation. Gonna post some finished pics soon but she is all tarped over now. Anyway got a question, correct me if I am wrong but on the trim tab switch isn't say the switch that is labeled port side supposed to actually operate the starboard side ...

Re: TBone`s F-32 project.

Yea, awsome project. Good to see another great boat being brought back to pristine condition. I am redoing an F 26 flybridge. Total restoration has taken 14 months, working just about every weekend. You can't give up. Seems like you got a real good starting hull to work with. Keep up the great work..

Thanks for all the replies. Yes I will be dummy of the day for not asking about possibility of a prop shaft having a nut on coupling end. Not too big of a deal, new shaft for my boat going to be about $250. I will ask this now. I want to go with a new split type prop shaft coupling. Anyone got any o...

Prop shaft question

This may be some really dumb questions. But I have learned a hard and expensive lesson. I have been trying to get my prop shaft coupling off for several weeks so I can replace cutless bearing, new flax in stuffing nut and shaft log hose. Finally gave up and cut the prop shaft. I discovered that on t...

Thanks for the remarks. I did so much reading or research on bottom paints I was more confused when I finished up than when I started. seems like equal good, bad, loved, hated reviews on every paint out there. I really like the Vivid paint so far. It rolled on excellent. Very good coverage. I am gon...

Renovation update

Had a great weather weekend and was able to get finished
with bottom paint and boot stripe. Went with Pettit Vivid. Next
weekend if weather permitting I am moving the blocks to finish
those areas of the hull.

Been working 10 months now on renovations. Posted a pic a little while back on the cockpit upgrade, all new paint including deck as well as teak and trim refinish, new gauges, switches and wiring for lower and upper helm. Thank goodness mechanical, engine and transmission are in good shape. It's a r...
