Rudder post leak
Sorry for the long post. Over the last few years the starboard rudder has been leaking. This spring I repacked both sides but the starboard continued to leak no matter how much I tightened it. We left Saturday for a 5 hour run to start vacation. 45 minutes out the boat felt funny. We saw the aft pum...

Re: is it spring yet? when does everyone go in?
My boat is behind a 15 foot tall snow bank created when we cleared the club parking lot. Also we had some damage to our marina from a tug and barge. I am hoping for mid-May at this point. We won't know for sure until the survey is complete of the marina damage. 3 foot thick ice is preventing the div...

Re: Prop problems
I'm going to replace my props due to recent damage. What diameter and pitch are others with F-36's running?

Prop problems
Snapped one blade off my port prop. Looks like fatigue. Anyone know of some 20x20's? Shaft is 1.375".

Re: Stuck intake valve
Update: The boat went back in to the water on June 6. I had to replace the oil pan because it was leaking. I also replaced the exhaust manifolds with OEM's. Everything seems to be working well now. I will be replacing the gasket between the riser and manifold every year as maintenance as it seems to...

Re: Trim Tab hydraulic leak
Same exact thing happened to me last year. I called InstaTrim and ordered new hose. It's sold by the foot. I used stainless hose clamps on the external fittings. I did a rough measurement then added a few feet. The part of the hose that is outside the boat takes the most abuse. I curled some up insi...

Re: Stuck intake valve
Sorry I meant signs of water, rust, pitting, dried salt built up in the exhaust manifold ports. They are going to magnaflux the heads to check for cracks. My engines are fresh water cooled, so the only way salt water could get in is thru the risers. The engine and the exhaust manifolds are cooled wi...

Re: Stuck intake valve
Okay, heads are off and at the machine shop. Water was in the middle two cylinders on one side and the middle cylinder closest to the rear on the other. What I noticed was there wasn't a metal block-off plate between the exhaust manifold and the riser, just one gasket. The gasket that was there had ...

Re: Stuck intake valve
Mike thanks for the info. I tapped the stuck valve with a brass drift pin before doing anything and it was still frozen. I fogged the motor myself last year, as I have done for many years with no problems. Engine is out now and doesn't look like the rear main seal is leaking. I will check the cam wh...

Re: Stuck intake valve
I have separators and the fuel is clean. I won't be able to see what caused it to stick till I get the heads off this afternoon. Some quick internet research makes me think this is a common problem with big block GM's.

Re: Stuck intake valve
Rusty manifold bolts. Also, my yacht club has everything needed to pull the motor with ease, crane, work shop, motor stand, etc. All the bolts and cables came out/off easy. It's all disconnected and the engine should be out tomorrow and back in by early next week. I was not in the water yet anyway s...
