Re: lazarette seacock item burst - what is it?

Heat gun or hair dryer on the hose will help loosen it up too... just don't overdo it.

Re: Stupid AC question

I have the same strainer on my AC. I find that it sometimes gets air locked after cruising through some rougher seas. I find it easiest to just loosen the T handle at the top to break the seal and bleed the air then tighten it back down when water starts to come out.

Re: 1987 10 meter mid cabin complete restoration.

Reason I asked is because I'm having a terrible time with the coolant system right now. It is impossible to vent the air out when filling it. This causes a "vapor lock" and the system will overheat. Kohler apparently realized the problem after the early models were produced and modified th...

Re: 1987 10 meter mid cabin complete restoration.

Yeah I thought it was the 5kw kohler. Does yours have the vent plug in the expansion tank opposite of the fill cap? I can't tell from your picture if there is a hole there or just a smudge.

Re: 10 Meter Sedan AC Size, Midwest Climate.

Here are the pictures:

Berth AC has one vent that runs to the dinette area and one that runs to the berth. Control is manual and located in dinette corner. In the salon the evaporator unit is actually one shared air intake and two evaporator coils each with their own blower.

Re: 10 Meter Sedan AC Size, Midwest Climate.

I would probably suggest installing a self contained unit somewhere rather than a split unit. I'll post some pictures of my ceiling evaporator unit tomorrow so you can see what it looks like. You might be able to find one from a 10 meter sedan that is being parted out. To custom make one would be mo...

Re: 10 Meter Sedan AC Size, Midwest Climate.

I've got a 16k split unit in the salon/engine compartment. Evaporator unit is in the ceiling in the salon. Also have a 6k self-contained unit in the starboard locker in the berth. I'm not sure about what was factory original. That capacity seems to be a bit undersized on florida summer days but shou...

Ignition Coil

Had trouble getting the starboard engine to start yesterday. Seemed to be getting fuel but no spark. Swapped the ignition coil from the port engine and it fired right up. I can't find a part number on either ignition coil. Engines are 1985 454 ci Crusader Model 350. Parts book says part number is Cr...

Re: Electrical Questions

The reason I post questions here is for all your age and expertise! Thanks guys! I wasn't even born yet when my boat was built so a lot of this stuff baffles me. Next I need to get rid of the AC receptacle in the engine room that was supplying power to that antenna box. I know, I know, sparks...engi...

Re: Electrical Questions

A TV antenna booster seems like a reasonable guess. It had both AC and DC power wired to it. Two coaxial type wires coming out of it were just bundled up next to the box. One ran all the way up to the flybridge (antenna wire perhaps?). The DC power was wired directly to the battery so this wasn't an...

Electrical Questions

I've got a couple questions: 1) I had to replace one of the ignition key switches. How much current rating is required for this? Is 15 amp ignition and 30 amp solenoid sufficient for a 454? 2) I have a remote controlled spotlight to install. I know there was one previously installed so I did some di...

Re: Stereo amplifier

I have the stereo head unit installed in the corner behind the dinette. Amplifier is in the locker in that same corner. This was maybe a 15 ft run from the batteries in the engine room. I've got two speakers in the salon, two on the bridge, and a sub in the cockpit. I don't have the amp running off ...
