Question regarding carpet in salon of f-32
I want to replace the carpet in the salon of my 1990 f32. No lower station. The carpet I have now has both a cutout for the hatch in the middle of the salon, and slits along the openings to the engine hatches so they can be lifted without removing the carpet. I have seen other boats with salon carpe...

None of the Trojans were manufactured by Bertram. For a while (late 80's to '91?) Whittaker merged the old Trojan and Bertram companies into a holding company called Bertram-Trojan, but each company continued to produce boats independently. Having said that, the Internationals are great boats. Read ...

Another con is that the vdrives place the engines back under the cockpit sole, where they are exposed to leaks through the hatches. Straight drives put the engines under the salon, where you don't have water dripping on them. But non of the cons mentioned are significant enough to make vdrives a bad...

Any boat manufactured with wooden stringers has the same susceptibility to rot. Some Trojans, especially the F series, have a fairly flat hull from midships back. This allows a relatively small amount of bilge water to be in contact with the stringers, so the skipper must be diligent about keeping t...

I don't know about the Tricabins, but the F36's have rubber plugs in the seacocks which are not tapered- the T handle screw pushes against a disk that puts force on the rubber plug, causing it to seal tightly. They work very well as long as you move the handle back and forth occasionally, and pull t...

What is wrong with the shaft logs that makes you feel they need replacing? It's pretty rare that they need to be replaced. The piece attached to the hull is just a chunk of bronze with a hole through the middle. It's bolted in place with three bronze carriage bolts. The bolts run from outside the bo...

Pumping tanks on an F32
I have a bunch of water in one of the forward saddle tanks on my F32 (can anyone say "ethanol"?). It was recommended that I pump out the tank, or at least pump from the bottom until all the water is out. Am I correct in assuming the the normal pickup tube doesn't go all the way to the bott...

I took all the screws out of the flybridge apron (sides) and lifted it up about an inch. I realized that it is formed so that there is a void under the edge of the apron where the screws go through into the flybridge floor. All the caulking in the world on the outside of the flybridge won't keep lea...

Fabric for Interior
I have a 1990 F32 that needs new drapery. I have searched the local upholstry shops, as well as the web, for suitable fabric, but it seems the fabric patterns used for boat interiors (mostly pastels) are different than the ones used for homes. Anyone know a source for drapery fabric with a suitable ...
