well if you had studs that is a good sign that they were still sealed i had bolts and found out the hard way i did not know that the 440 had heads like that i did not reseal bolts just used anti seze and had to flush oil in 30 degree temps the boat was on the hard it was not fun good luck

how does you oil look ? i had a simular issue changed the gasket on my 440s and had air bubbles coming out of exhaust also come to find out that water mixed with the oil due to the bolt holes in the heads my 440 do not have blind holes for the mounting studs/bolts so water leaked pass and right into...

it is real close to 3 foot on customer side i will add a bar stool today and take a pic

thanks guys Midnight looks sweet it going to be hard to talk me out of removing it now. i just purchaced it in early november only had enough time to drive it to the marina to store it for the winter i guess its a bad time to buy a boat but could not pass up the deal in short did not have time to us...
