Re: Props
Don't confuse yourself with the V-drives or the rotation of the engines paired to those drives... When viewed from behind a twin engined inboard boat, the starboard prop always turns to the right (clockwise), and the port prop always turns to the left (counterclockwise).

Re: Leaking Side Windows
If water can't drain out fast enough it will fill up the track and spill over into the cabin. Your problem might be solved by simply blasting the track with water to clean it out. My F-26 side windows would leak, as well, when the tracks got dirty (moss, tree flotsam, etc).

Re: MEMBERS WE HAVE NOT HEARD FROM FOR A WHILE
Though Trojanless for the past two seasons, I do still lurk here on occasion. I also help maintain and occasionally 'crew' two of my former Trojans, owned by two buddies of mine. Parted out the third boat, an F-36 Tri-Cabin, in the fall of 2010. A nice 35' Chris Craft Commander has replaced the Troj...

The straight sheerline gives this away as a Model 253 F-25 (introduced for '75), as opposed to the sweeping sheerline of the Model 251/252 F-25 ('73-'74) and follow-on Model 261 F-26 ('75-on). The resulting tall trunk cabin and thick A-pillar ahead of the cabin side window are also clues. Early mode...

Kevin, I COMPLETELY disassembled my Tri-Cabin screw by screw from the windshield back. By the time I was finished, only the stringers remained. So here's my two cents: Although the bulkhead panels on either side of the aft cabin door are designed for removal when changing engines, they are a bugger ...

Aaron, I always enjoy reading about the history of your parents Tri-Cabin... My boat (hull 440-2763) had the storage features you mentioned, but made do with the original windshield design. She had the optional teak aft cockpit covering boards and toerails, and factory teak swim platform (clever in ...

You wrote that the early boats had a teak bulkhead between the aft cockpit and the cabin. That bulkhead and the aft cabin door (all boats through 1976) was actually constructed with white Formica-like laminate outside and faux woodgrain laminate inside both glued over plywood with only a few bits of...

You first have to consider whether your cockpit sole is structurally capable of handling the wear and tear of your 'big ole hatch' repeatedly swinging on it. If you have a later model F-26 with FG cockpit sole, you'll need to check the balsa coring as many older cored decks have water damaged balsa ...

roofer, that rubrail is unique to early Trojans. Likely made by Trojan, so not available new unless custom milled. But I might be able to help, as I happen to still possess the aft cockpit combing and rub rail section of the Tri-Cabin hull I cut up last fall. (With teak costing almost $30 a board fo...

If the original 'glue' looks, well, like a stale old Slo-poke sucker (caramel in color and brittle in consistency) then it will chisel off. Mostly. If your 'glue' has a slightly pink hue and is still flexible after all these years, then good luck getting that off. Of anything! The F-36 I completely ...
