Re: F32 Rudder
Yes that’s it! My “framing boards” if we’re calling them that, are carriaged-bolted to two other boards that are sister’ed (bolted) to inside of the stringers, and I think also support the gas tanks. From your picture it looks like yours are directly lagged to the top of the stringer, which I wouldn...

Re: F32 Rudder
No not the actual rudder box, I’m speaking of the wooden brace that runs between the stringers—the top of the rudder runs through it. I don’t now the technical term for it

Re: F32 Rudder
Hi gang just an update— Everyone please check all your mounting hardware for the steering bar that connects both rudders. My starboard mounting plate had no nuts on the 4 carriage bolts that keep it in place; thus when the boat sat on bottom it was able to push up. I assume they were removed at some...

Re: F32 Rudder
Back story—winds blew the water out of the creek and the boat was on bottom. Pushed the rudder up—and water started to seep. Put my foot on the top of the rudder and it went back down. Seeping stopped. My starboard side rudder never moved. Port moved Maybe 4”?

F32 Rudder
Hey gang,
‘74 F32. My port rudder seems to be loose—as it’s able to move up and down with some force. Is there a set screw or a pin that I need to tighten or install? Plan to monkey with it tomorrow or Friday after work.
Thanks

Re: F32 Hollow Keel
Am I correct that the “hollow keel” is under this glass matting?
And yes I know it’s filthy—My apologies!
If so, how deep is the keel/void?
Thanks!

Re: Acceptable amount of steam from exhaust
Hey gang, Just an update if this could help anyone in the future. F32 with 318s. Per usual, I replaced Impeller/thermostat early spring. Decided to replace both sets of risers/manifolds as well. Took a few slow cruises, all temps were fine. No steam. All good, right? This past weekend, took her out ...

Manifold / Riser Temperatures
Hey gang, Wanted to see what is an acceptable temperature range for 318 manifolds and risers to be. Temp gauges works fine—new impellers and 140* thermostats on both motors. Exhaust flow is fine. Just shooting everything with an infrared gun at idle after 5+minutes. Risers seems to be hovering aroun...

Re: Manifold gasket replacement
As always, thanks for your response prowlersfish.
What type of sealant would you suggest for the threads? It looked like clear silicone was used when I pulled them off. Just no telling what type, and obviously I want to do it right the first time.
Thanks

Manifold gasket replacement
Hey gang, Out of an abundance of caution, I pulled both sets of manifolds/risers off to inspect. 318’s. Checked out OK. I received replacement gaskets from Barr, and am curious if you guys install them dry, or use a small amount of Permatex (or equivalent). Also, both of my blocks have the last mani...

Re: F32 V berth storage
Kallen,
I had not thought about removing the drawers. Did you cover the old openings with a panel? I do remember how much of a pain it was removing the drawers to replace my bilge pump hose.

Re: F32 V berth storage
Captain maniac — Thanks for the plastic bin idea. I think that would make for an ideal spot to stash extra towels/blankets/sweatshirts/hats etc, in a rubbermade. I was planning to store inflatable toys/rafts there, once dry and rolled up/folded.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

F32 V berth storage
Hey gang,
Curious to if any of you store any items below the V berth on an F32. I was surprised of the amount of unused space present, when I unscrewed the wood panels. Thanks

Re: Shaft key missing
Prowlersfish,
Excellent call. Looks to be still there. Should that shaft be further into the coupler? I know it may be difficult to say solely using the “eye test”. Ive never seen an unassembled shaft/coupler setup, so I’m clueless about all of this.
Thanks again
