Re: My First Boat - 1997 Trojan 390 Express - Caught between 2 worlds

The Carver made Trojan 370/390/400 were derived from the Trojan International 10.8 Meter Express. This was a completely newly designed International series, and was the first International boat to abandon the Harry Schoell designed hull. The boats topside design was created by Italian naval architec...

It's nice, but why?

And I agree with the engine. Why not something super modern?

Re: Repowering 198310 meter Trojan

I dream about diesel motors all the time. The cost alone keeps me from every really doing it. When the Crusaders wear out, they'll be rebuilt with maybe a little stroke, but I don't run them hard, so they probably will be around for a long time. If I'm going to spend $60,000 on diesels, there is no ...

Re: Hello Everyone and Help Please

I'd check around with the boat community and marina's and see if you can get a name of a reputable surveyor. With it now in the water, and the issues that should have been found, I'd pay the money for a new surveyor. That way, you have fewer surprises. If you have wiring issues at the log, you're bo...

Re: 1995 Trojan 350 Cruiser

It was a boat entirely designed by Fulvio De Simoni. Fulvio was first contracted by Trojan to design the layout of the International 10.8 Meter Express, however the hull was designed by an Engineer at Bertram. When Carver purchased the name rights, they used the platform to create the Trojan Express...

Re: 1995 Trojan 350 Cruiser

The 1995 Trojan 350 is a boat that was produced by Carver. Trojan Yachts went out of business in 1992. Carver used the name "Trojan" for a line of boats, but they were not designed, engineered, or produced by Trojan. They were completely engineered and made by Carver. I believe Carver had solid fibe...

Re: The Trojan International That Never Was

The bottom drawing is just the opposite layout of the 10.8 Meter Express that was produced. The V drives give significantly more space than even the 11 Meter. John Leed told me he had a concept drawing of a convertible also.

Cool stuff

RWS,

You have a copy of this for your site?

Re: Newbie looking for some basic advice

In my humble opinion, your first boat and boat owning experience shouldn't be a 50 year old wooden boat. The learning curve to maintain the boats is so steep, and the costs associated, you'll be frustrated before you get started. I always tell people to start with a smaller, fiberglass boat in good ...

Phone # for John Leed

Hi All,

Anyone have an updated phone # for John Leed. I'm trying to get more info on the 10.8 Express.

Thanks,
Todd

Re: Trojan International 10.8 Meter EXPRESS

Yes, Yanmar or Cummins diesels would be a fantastic platform for this vessel. That was the 2nd boat off the new assembly line. There won't be many of these boats left if they are neglected like the one you saw.

Re: The Norwegian Trojan....again. (update)

Honestly, I keep my boat unlocked. I figured it's easier to replace the crap they steal than the boat parts they break to get in.

Re: Flat Tappet

I think its hard to find a definitive answer to the question of how much ZDDP, or ZDTP for synthetics, are required for our older engines. Some say that its only really important during the intitial break-in, but others say it's necessary in older engines on a continuous basis. The problem the older...

Re: 11Meter fuel tank sensor

On your particular tank, no. It usually is located in the center. If you can feel around and find the wire, it will be attached to your sensor and float. There should be a 2-3 inch disk with a bunch of screws around the edge. If you need to remove and replace, you will need significant space above t...

Re: 1987 10 meter mid cabin complete restoration.

Depending on your compound, you may have a 2500 to 3000 grit comparison. If your compound is not cutting it, I would start with wetsanding with 1500, redo with 2000, and then try the compound again. It might save you some time. I like to throw a little dishwashing liquid in my pail of water. Let the...
