Re: Updating Electrical System on 1976 F32

..... BigD, Promariner explicitly states that the battery charger terminals go straight to the battery banks.I wanted to run them off the isolator to save me some wire runs but that was a no no..... Interesting, I've installed countless ProNauticP units and do not recall the manual specifically sta...

Re: Updating Electrical System on 1976 F32

Looks good. It's best to minimize the number of connections at battery posts. On that note, rather than connecting charge wires at the batteries, connect them to the source side of each battery switch. The only charger lead going to an actual battery is the temp probe. I would connect it to the hous...

Re: shaft packing,traditional or dripless

.....Was going to upgrade to dripless, but my mechanic says dont bother uess you're also putting in new shafts..... That's not always the case, it really depends on the condition of the shaft. With a lip seal type dripless system, the seal is made by stationary o-rings precisely fitted around the s...

Re: Engine mounts

Here's my 2 cents FWIW; While being off center a bit is okay, that seems too extreme for my liking and I'd be recommending to have it remedied. Having said that, we're looking at the results with the vessel out of the water which can skew the actual position if the boat isn't blocked with care. Ther...

Re: F32 scrap the boat or repair stringers?

Always hate to see it come to that but the economics for any given individual is usually what dictates. One can look at this a couple of different ways when major repairs are involved; if you think of it as an investment or what you're going to get out of her financially after you sell versus what y...

Re: slight vibration

Agreed, if this just started, you may have hit something. You may have wrapped a bunch of weeds or a rope around the prop. It could also be that an old strut bearing finally wore enough to cause a vibration. Loose motor mounts and fasteners, rotten stringers, and engine run-ability issues can also l...

Remove the filler caps and go for a ride. If she doesn't stall, it's likely blocked vents, if they still stall it's something else.

Re: 1977 F30 318 cuts off under load

The wondering rpm sounds like you still have a fueling issue. An running engine quitting when you start the other engine is an electrical issue; poor/ corroded/loose connections or weak batteries. If there's an internal issue or problem with the starting on the engine you're starting last, it could ...

Re: Few questions. Setting carbs / New windows

Setting up the carb properly is definitely important but have you checked your timing and the condition of your distributor? If the advance mechanism is sticking, you'll get those symptoms too.

Re: 1979 F28 Wood Interior

Just to confuse you more, you may have a mix of teak and mahogany all stained to match. There's probably some teak trim but the solid wood structural framing, cabinetry, etc. are likely mahogany as well as most if not all of the plywood to reduce production costs. The teak will have a tighter more d...

Re: Insta Trim / Boat leveler parts

I've gotten seal kits from them before but they've always sent them to me at no charge so no invoice and no part number on the package to pass on to you but they are available direct from Insta-Trim. Before you open up the cylinder, make sure it's completely retracted or you'll have a mess and inspe...

Re: 36 Tri cabin Battery Charger

How did Trojan originally configure the batteries. I have seen 2 starting batteries and 1 house battery. Was a house battery original equipment or a option. If the boat didn't have a genny was the house off of the starting batteries. Did the genny have a battery or was it tied in to the starting ba...

Re: 36 Tri cabin Battery Charger

A question. If an old dumb charger that was 30amps had its three legs connected, would the charge be portioned out as 10/10/10 no matter what.I do realize that you would never get all 30 but for the sake of example, Then if there were only two legs connected, would that be 15/15 and so on.Now if th...

Re: 36 Tri cabin Battery Charger

If the engine batteries are not maintained by the charger when docked how long would the batteries last if the bilge pumps were running due to a leak and no one notices the bilge pumps running. So I have the charger charging the engine batteries when on shore power. LOL, just giving you something t...

Welcome aboard Wayne. If you can't find an original, try swimplatforms.com or contact Mark at Les Composites in Quebec 514-267-2737. Both these places can build from scratch. Also try Beacon Marine that run this site. If anyone can find an original, it's them or they may be able to steer you in the ...
