Re: Strainer advice do's/don'ts...
Rossjo, Where did yours crack? was it frozen open prior? had maybe someone used excessive force to try to close it? I have them on my 1990 F32 and they were not mentioned in the survey 2 years ago. Both still operate fine and the ones I had on my 1985 were fine also. I did at one point disassemble o...

Todd,
Did your old ones fail? I have the same ones on my F32.

Re: f26 electrical
Don't forget to protect each circuit with a ground fault device. If you are using an outlet to do this the hospital grade ones usually only found at an electrical supplier are a lot more durable.

Getting a jelly fish out of the AC intake
Sucked a jelly fish into the AC intake on Sunday, I found a few tentacles hanging from the strainer basket, I assume the rest of him was stuffed in the thru hull. I made up an adapter to allow me to blow down the intake side of the strainer with a small shop vac. http://i1292.photobucket.com/albums/...

Re: Lets see your helms
Mel,
I love that, having it in the center is nice. I do not have room there with my gauges and I am not sure I would move the compass to put it on top. I am thinking I will end up with it on the stbd side of the helm where the old one is now but not really a fan of that location.

Paul,
The salesman at west marine told me it was a last minute decision to put the unit on sale. I did not see it advertised anywhere but in the store.

Lets see your helms
I am looking to set up my F32 with some new electronics and would like ideas on the layout. I will be starting slow by adding a chart plotter which will become a backup as I eventually add a plotter / sonar combo.
Also what would you recommend as an entry level chart plotter?

Re: I'll show you mine if you show me yours....
This one is a 1990 my last one was a 1985 and it had the same fuel valve set up. Very easy to use and understand which tanks you are pulling from. It gives you lots of options.

Re: I'll show you mine if you show me yours....
Generator has it's own pickup in the aft port tank. I normally run off the front tanks leaving the aft tanks full to help with the aft quartering seas issue. I never open the crossover to avoid contaminating the fuel systems on both engines from a single contaminated tank. On a long run I will burn ...

Re: Fixing AC air flow issue
Thanks Larry and Paul. That is an example of what I call redneck engineering... you just "Get er done" whatever it takes. I will be adding a vent in the head. Probably wait until next winter to do that. Put the boat back together tonight and just want to finish up a few more things before ...

Fixing AC air flow issue
The boat has a 16k unit in it and a vent on the counter top and one in the V birth. I was getting flow thru only 1/2 of the vent in the salon and very low air flow to the V birth. Upon taking it apart I found that it had sharp bends in the duct to the salon. The V birth duct came out the bottom of a ...
