Re: How to pull my Chrysler 400's from F36 Salon

Most the time I would use a fork lift with forks that will reach through the door or a boom truck .this is depending what the yard has . A fork lift used for lifting boats works well and will reach . No need to pre lift it with a A-Frame . A chain fall /come a long on the fork lift is helpful +1 on...

Re: Sandblasting Swim Platform

Tim, don't forget to wipe down with acetone just before applying Cetol. This will remove the oil on the surface of the teak so the Cetol can penetrate into the wood. Very important step that will provide good adhesion of the initial coat. 8)

Away wrote:Consider this, I took mine off, went to a furniture builder and had it power planned by 1/16 top side and 1/32 bottom. No black stains (gone) then sanded ( 80 grit / 120 / then 150 ) then 5 coats of cetol. Amazing. Each tear a light scuff and a new coat of cetol.
PERFECT!

Re: vinyl wrap for hull

Barrie, I agree with Big D. Restoring gelcoat will produce incredible results. I refinished a 1967 Chris Craft Commander in Awlgrip at a large expense, several years ago. I did another 1970 Commander a few years later and restored the original gelcoat. It was awesome on completion, way better than t...

Re: vinyl wrap for hull

Hi Barrie, Progress on your boat is looking good. On the wrap idea I would offer my input. Gelcoat and other finishes ie; Awlgrip, etc, have abrasive qualities that can stave off damage from many sources; Dock rash, fender rub, impacts, scrapes, etc. and I am not sure vinyl can withstand the same wa...

Re: Oil Types for 280 gas engines

The people at Antony-Keats, (the experts) advised using Mercury High Performance Gear Lube in Walter V-drives. I use Rotella 15W-40 for engine oil and ATF in the reverse drive.

Re: Sandblasting Swim Platform

sandblasting is not the way to go. use a good stripper like Circa. If you have stains or dark spots use a 2 stage cleaner. flush well with water. When dry sand with 100-150 grit as the grain will be raised. than 220. I would not coat with epoxy because when the platform is damaged ie; scrapped (and ...

CBL, did you shop around? I know they have been transported with the right hydraulic rig and removal of the mast and plastic w/shield. Removal and reinstall is a PITA.

Re: Hydraulic Lift

Hi Ron, the lift on your boat was built by "Lift & Go Systems" in Midland Ontario. Marc Plourde is the principal of the company. They build lifts with 600 lb. to 1000 lb. capacities depending on the unit. Marc is a great guy. Give him a call if you have any questions about your unit. H...

Re: Spray rails

They are not difficult or expensive to replace. Their other job is protecting the lower aft hull from impact damage and they look good, IMHO 8)

Thank you for the responses. Went with the Interlux 2-part Epoxy Primekote followed by the Interlux Brightside. Results will be posted in my journal. Interlux 2-part Epoxy "Primecoat" is used with 2-part "Perfection". "PreKote" (less $ and easier to apply) is used with...
