Re: Optimum RPM range for big blocks

Captain Maniac is right...Cruising at 8.9 (1800) is using a lot of unnecessary fuel. Your waterline length on that boat is about 35 feet, bringing you hull speed down to about 7. As I said, 1500 is the magical # for me. It makes a huge difference. Fuel flow meters are key as well as patience in trav...

Re: Optimum RPM range for big blocks

You have 502's vs 454's? I think the 502's wot is in the area of 4600. I have the 454's. If I keep it at 1500 or below, there is significant improvement in fuel efficiency. Anything over that and there isn't a ton of difference from slow to cruise. I can maintain a decent cruise of about 18-20 mph a...

Does your boat happen to be from Northeast Boat Sales. I saw a 40 Jersey with Cats for sale in there.

Congrats Todd. You're probably part of the 1% crowd who takes on a project like this and finishes. You should be very proud.

Re: Toilet Fixet! (sort of...)

I've used seacoast services, and they seem very helpful. I called with a question, and they are very accomodating. Might be worth a call if you had questions about the toilet.

Re: Toilet Fixet! (sort of...)

Duck bills are located on both sides of your pump at the inlet and outlet. They are regular maintenance items and should be changed every few years. Most vacuum issues are due to old or clogged.

I definitely use mine early to aid me on getting on plane quickly. I ease back as I reach plane and level out. I'm definitely stern heavy.
