Re: Looking for an upgrade...
Thanks for the replies. I know that project 10 meter is probably not worth my time, but I just needed someone else to say it. Does anyone have through a on the space on a 10 meter mid cabin vs the 10 meter without the aft? I've been on both but am not really sure what one is more spacious. I'd love...

Re: Looking for an upgrade...
I hope to welcome you to the world of Trojan Internationals. There are several options. I would take a look at http://www.trojanboat.com . The website is still expanding. A 10k 10 meter may be more work than its worth. There are a ton of fresh water internationals in the great lakes in need of good ...

Re: Mercruiser 8.2 L Bluewater inboard oil brand
An oil discussion could go on for days, but most of the guys I know run Shell Rotella. I like Amsoil Z Rod 20W50. Its expensive, but it has a high zinc content, and anti rust additives for long winter lay-ups that a typical hot rod (or in this case boat) would have in cold NY. You can order it onlin...

Natchamps amazing top. This guy did some amazing work and created a very unique, one-of-a-kind 10 Meter.

Re: 10 meter express Inspection- advise
If it's an 83 10 Meter, the stringers have no wood, so core rot is not an issue. I'd try to nail down why it failed, but it should be a pretty straight forward repair. The radar arches on those boats were cored with balsa. If someone drilled a hole and didn't properly bed it, it'll eventually rot. C...

Re: 10 meter express Inspection- advise
The great thing about fiberglass is that you can always repair and modify it. It sounds like it was repaired improperly. Is there wood in the stringers? For the engine mount areas, you can also laminate stainless steel around the mount areas. If there is wood in the stringers, you may have some rot ...

Re: New member with 1st wooden boat
Pettit also makes a product called flexpoxy. Sounds like a unique product that could potentially fit the bill on wooden boat projects, but I've never tried it.

Re: New member with 1st wooden boat
If its going to be exposed I recommend 3m 4000uv. If it will be painted, maybe a poly sulfide would be better. I think the only poly sulfide I've seen is boat life.

Re: New member with 1st wooden boat
Sounds like you have a great handle on this project. Although I am a big fan of epoxy sealer and fill-it, I always recommend a poly type caulk for seams on a wooden boat due to its flexibility when compared to epoxy products. The exception would be brand new and dry wood that has been completely sta...

Re: New Member with questions after sea trial
Your efficiency on step (on plane) depends on the boat, weight, hull design, motors and tuning, cleanliness of bottom, etc. Hard to give a definitive answer, as its different for every boat, even boats of the same design. If you are running a 10 Meter, or 10.8 Meter, at 20 knots, you are probably lo...

Re: 10 meter express Inspection- advise
I would recommend a good surveyor. If that boat is an express, it will not have any wood in the stringers. Good luck.

Re: Need help on how to fix engine mounts
It's difficult to tell without more data... A moisture meter, a knock test, and a qualified surveyor should be the next step (or the first). It could be that the stringers are totally gone or that the bolt was simply over torqued and stripped. In either scenario, loose motor mounts are not good and...

Re: New member with 1st wooden boat
Educate me about something if you wouldn't mind. The bilge. I have been accused of being far to concerned about my bilge in the past, so this boat raises a conundrum for me. I assume that any kind of coating that encapsulates the wood is a bad thing right? I have always painted my bilges with white...
