Re: No such thing as a stupid question?

Sounds like you need to adjust the carburetor before considering changing the prop. With the transmission in neutral, it doesn't matter what prop is on! What is your rpm at idle in neutral? Have you adjusted the throttle linkage?

Re: Fuel filters

Is there any way to clean the jets other than to pull the carb, clean it, and rebuild it?

Re: Fuel filters

2 points to Paul for the idle jet screw suggestion. Turned them all the way in and then backed out to original position. Engine will now start and idle but occasionally stalled when I increased throttle or returned down to an idle. They were each about 4 turns out. Does this indicate that the jets w...

Re: Fuel filters

I have Edelbrock 1409 carbs. I removed the part that the arrow is pointing to expecting to find a filter behind it but there was nothing there.

Re: Fuel filters

I haven't touched the screws yet so I will give that a try tonight. Thanks for the suggestion!

Re: Fuel filters

The starboard engine runs fine still and I have a single fuel tank so I was assuming the fuel is ok and the problem is on just the port engine.

Re: Fuel filters

Any suggestions on what to try next? I was thinking of switching carbs between engines to see if that isolates the problem. Is that a huge PITA to do? Anything I should try first?

Re: Fuel filters

I replaced both of my filters tonight. I didn't find a carb fuel inlet filter. The engine is still having trouble. It will occasionally fire up and run if I give it some throttle. It will stall out if rpm is brought below 1200. It had been running well this weekend. I had been running at cruise spee...

Re: Fuel filters

Thanks! I didn't realize there was a carb inlet filter as well. I will look for that tonight.

Fuel filters

Time to change my fuel filters. There is one mounted to a stringer and downstream of that is another mounted to the engine. Any advice on how to remove and replace these? Do the canisters screw off? Does anyone recognize them enough to tell me where to find a replacement cartridge?

Re: 10 meter forward hatch gasket replacement ?

I used McMaster p/n 93085K12 to successfully fix my hatch seal. 10 feet of this will be much cheaper than anything from West Marine. It has lasted almost a year and hasn't leaked yet.

Re: Water system woes

The dockside water connection does have a check valve in it. This prevents water from spraying out when you are operating from the tank and fresh water pump. Sometimes these check valves can get stuck shut. I was able to open mine by shoving a rod into it and forcing it open.

Re: rough seas for a 10 meter

Thanks... I think we will head out and if it's too nasty we will just turn around and head in. I will pay attention to weather and radar to make sure we don't get caught out there. I suppose there is really only one way to get experience in rough seas.
