gasser ...
30 year old gas engine boats are cheap - $16k is reasonalble, since engines, tranny's, shafts, bearings, wiring etc. are in need of major overhauls, and the look is somewhat dated, but easily updated (as someone else noted). Good "handyman's special" - like a 60'sranch house.

Neutral revs
You only got 2900 ad 3100 RPM in neutral @ full throttle?
If so - you've got ignition or fuel delivery issues!

neutral
Can you get fll revs (4000+) in neutral? This is a quick 1st testt - then you know if your problem is very basic (alternator?) or a load issue.

yes
The axhaust must be cooled t... and you really can't air cool a radiator in a boat (this would make a nice furnace for winter cruises though!).
I would tear it down quickly and pickle evrything - but is it even worth saving? Thats up to you and your mechanic.

www.BOATDIESEL.com
$25/year for http://www.BOATDIESEL.com - invaluable! Anyway - the 23x20' will never work ... you'd need a 3.4:1 gear ratio to turn that! 23" 4-blade cupped @ 2.57:1 is a 23x1.6 - recommended prop is 20.9 x 15.2 ... best combination (gears and props) for a 4-blade is 4:1 26x24 http://www.BOATDIE...

exhaust
I would guess exhaust - hard to tell - You might tear it down and pickle everything quickly and save it its fresh water. If its salt, you're probably out of luck ...

bad wire
bad wire is easiest check - seen that befoee. The ignition circuits can cause problems - and your Mercathode (have 1?) could be an issue.
I've seen people run a wire (through a fuse or breaker and a switch) drecttly from the battery (or a power panel), but this doesn;t meet USCG code.

good tip!
I had removed the rotted wooden (1x2?) inner rails and replaced with 1"OD x 1" tall center-drilled delrin posts for the FLybridge side to push against. I cleaned and sealed these w/ 5200 and it helped, but I've got my leaks back. I'll try pulling ALL of the screws out of the side of the fl...

agreed on Bosch!
Bosh latinums are not good for heavy loads in a boat! The last forever - whihc is why they're popular for cars, but won't deliver a striong charge when you;re under heavy load. The Champoin Stainless plugs I mentioned earlier should be available for Fords, and will carry a strong charge and not rust...
