No smoke ...
No smoke, but your plugs foul sometimes? What doe the plugs look like when they are fouled? Black carbon or what? What carb? Roch 2-bbl? 4-bbl? Do you have a fuel-water sep? In-line fuel filter ( to trap rust particle)? A clear-in-line filter is nice so you can see if you have aparticles ollecting, ...

NGKs
I beg to differ - NGKs have left me dead inthe water many a time in my Yamaha Pro-V 200. The eletcrode breaks internally and they quit. No more NGKs for me. Yes - using hotter plugs can be dangerous - only go up ONE heat range after (and only after) checking the wires, timing and compression. If the...

Champion
Fouled with oil? If so - go 1 temp range hotter and use some I recommend Champion Marine Stainless Spark Plugs - worth the extra $. Also (as with ANY engine bolt) - put some anti-seize compound on the threads when you install. The platinum tips plugs last a long time, but don't cary the same current...

y-not
Y-NOT,
Thanks for the info - any reason you would';t simply put this keel pump further forward and let the forward water run into it at rest and be pumped out?
It is annoying (and smelly at times).

350 HP?
Stock Merc Crusaders aren't 350 HP w/o mods - not sure what you'e got there ... But even if they are 350HP rated, the age and heat will bring them down to a more realistic 310 or so. Just for fun - assuming 350HP............................................... MAX PERFORMANCE Available Power: 698.4 S...

Keel Access on F32?
I have not yet installed a lift pump in the keel of my F32 - can anyone tell me where they got access to the keel on their F32?
Is it in the false floor in the stateroom, or in the floor in the galley?
The smell is not bad, but it gets old - esp. in this heat.

Carb Rebuild Kit
A carb rebuild kit is < $50 - and is a good idea as well - the Roch 2BBl is easy - less than 2 hours out/rebuild/in ... then adjust idle as mentioned above. Fuel lines are next ... check and replace - these are dangerous if old. Cherk your timing - vibration can cause the distributor to turn slightl...

Nee forward Bilge Pump
Most boats tend to sit such that the water flows forward at dock., so you'll need to have a forward bilge pump (2 for safety!) with an automatic switch, The keel on the F3x's also holds water, so you can install a lifting pump (Jabsco has a nice unit) with a tube to the bottom of the center keel to ...

Bow Steer
This "Bow Steer" is exactly what happend on my F32 - the combinationof 3-4' sfollowing seas, strong corss wind and a quarting head-current truned us sharply, thrwoing my wife to the galley floor, and giving us quite a scare. I belive we had ben running the tabs down in the ICW due to the s...

If
If it ain't broke - don;t fix it. Why re-power if everything is ok? This isn't a speed boat anyway. Re-powers are expensive - and usually lead to replacement of many other things. Wait until the 230HP (Mercruiser 350 CI/5.7L ?) NEEDs to be replaced and do it then, after several years of experience w...

Following seas
Following seas can be tough in any boat.. The currents in your inlet, along with the rolls can setup an even more difficult condition. What crurrent ondition did you have? I presume you were coming into the inlet, based on the followign seas. Was the tide running in or out? I've been in 2 situations...
