Re: 36 Tri cabin Battery Charger

.....In every generator equipped boat I've ever owned, past and present - the shore power and the generator were/are both connected directly to my main panel..... Correct .......There has always been a rotary switch on the panel with three possible positions.... SHORE - OFF - GENERATOR...... Correc...

Re: 36 Tri cabin Battery Charger

A little long winded but here’s my take: OEMs typically don't hook up chargers to the generator batteries because it shouldn't be necessary. The caveat here is that you do what you're supposed to do which is run your generator often. In doing so, it's quite capable of maintaining the charge of its o...

Re: Help needed for my family's 58'

Welcome aboard. For that area, I can’t imagine anything other than marine ply being used. There are several types available though so that will be the challenge. Some species are not available anymore so getting as close a match on the grain and colour as you can will probably be the best you can ex...

Re: 1996 36' Trojan

They should all be standard rotation by 1996 but as usual you never know what a previous owner might have done so its always best to physically confirm first. Is there something wrong with the port engine?

Call Atlantic Coastal Welding. I've dealt with them before and never had an issue with the product or communication.

Re: Rudder / steering issues after grounding!

I agree with Paul; most likely a bent shaft. You may also have distorted the stern tube that the shaft goes through so it may need to be replaced. In any case, it looks like it should be removed and re-bedded anyway. You don't want to put off repairs for long. If it just happened, depending on its c...

Re: winterize fresh water system!

Many ways to skin a cat. Regardless of how it's done, if you use antifreeze, you could get rid of the odour in the system come Spring time by using a product such as TastePure Spring Fresh Cleaner/Deodorizer. http://www.camco.net/ecom/productpage/ad6f7cf3-e94a-4663-a0db-ef3d7c235953?lang=en-US You c...

Re: Great Lakes water levels

Summer finally showed up! Let the season begin  Water level in Lake Simcoe is too low now IMO. Don't know how you go from too much to not enough in one season. I guess they have to get it to a certain level to account for Spring runoff next year but still frustrating. It would be great if gett...

Re: Fla guys - how did you make out?

We watched this thing unfold on CNN all last weekend and into this week. What a monster. We have some family living down there that decided to ride it out despite the warnings and our concerns for them. Their logic was that they've lived through many in the past and that it is no different than us n...

Re: Hydraulic steering problems

If you have bleed TEE fittings at the end of the lines on the steering cylinder, you could bleed the system there or you can simply turn the helm back and forth several times (takes a while) and the system will bleed itself.

Re: Mansfield Toilet System

It should be similar to the Vacuflush system in that there's likely a pressure switch to control the level of vacuum, and check valves/duckbill valves. If it's not actually building vacuum and the pump runs continuously, chances are the check valves need to be replaced as they are a regular maintena...

Re: 110V AC

If the vessel's service is 30 amps (30 amp inlet/cord), it needs to be 10/2 plus ground from the inlet to the panel.
