Re: Gas smell 30-60 min after engines secured

This is a Crusader 350 CID 270 HP 78279 SN. I am extraordinarily unhappy, but thankful be alive. I believe I have a crack in my intake manifold port engine, 2 inches below the carburetor, dead center of the manifold. When I was testing my alternator, I just happened to see this seconds after turning...

Re: Replacing Alternators with more Power

Unplugging the yellow lead from the alternator exciter re-enabled my ignition switch. The ignition switch works the way it should for both engines. I just tapped the crap out of the lead on both engines and tie-wrapped all the yellow leads back on themselves (disconnected). STBD engine was completed...

Re: Replacing Alternators with more Power

I think that wire going to the coil is the 12 volt feed for the alt field which is probably about 2 amps as there is a resistor--- now if that has been shorted somehow it will put 12 to the coil instead of from it if you follow me--- don't know how these new alts excite --- but I believe that is ho...

Re: Replacing Alternators with more Power

I didn't realize the thread was still active, bc I stopped getting update emails. :( Sorry. So, lots of good input. My thoughts are that the alternator is just a device, like any other generator/alternator and it's only going to put out the current demanded. I don't plan to ever draw more than 50% o...

Re: Replacing Alternators with more Power

How hard is it to add a second pulley? That seems like a lot of work, but I'm electric by nature, not mechanical.

Replacing Alternators with more Power

One of my alternators on my 1990 F32 w 350 Crusaders crapped out. I'm replacing both with new 100 Amp alternators (original 51A) from a local rebuild guy. He provides a 1 year warranty and has a great reputation. So, I looked at the original owner's manual and took a bunch of pictures and I'm still ...

Gas smell 30-60 min after engines secured

I posted a little about this in my moving thread(Need a little personal advice). My 1990 F32 Twin Crusader 350 has an odor about 30-60 minutes after turning the engines off. It is getting better with everything I do, but it isn't gone yet. So far, I discovered the fuel/water separator filters were m...

Re: Need a Litte Personal Advice - Move a 1990 F32?

I plan to use Brother's Marine Transport out of Nashville. Eugene has been friendly and timely so far on everything to set this up. They will make a decision on moving day about disassembling fly bridge and they will do that if it needs to be done. There is no question that the bridge will have to ...

Re: Need a Litte Personal Advice - Move a 1990 F32?

So - quick update on my personal life to a bunch of strangers :) I am in fact planning a move to Memphis, TN and Invictus will ride the Asphalt Seas of I64 to I40 to the mighty Mississippi. The company hiring me is being awesome in the most conservative words I can use about moving my boat. They are...

Re: Need a Litte Personal Advice - Move a 1990 F32?

The observed leak is at the top of the can where the o-ring or gasket deteriorated. I could just replace the element, but one of the cans, port if I recall correctly, is dented and looks really bad. The original owners manual suggests replacement if the can is deteriorated. So, I'm replacing the hea...

Re: Need a Litte Personal Advice - Move a 1990 F32?

Here's the part that leaks and needs replaced. This part is obsolete and I have to replace the head as well. Total cost is $25/engine. Part 54 here http://www.marinepartssource.com/crusaderpb/305cp17.asp Replacement part is ordered here http://bpi.ebasicpower.com/p/CRU97889 which led to http://bpi.e...

Re: Need a Litte Personal Advice - Move a 1990 F32?

Thanks for all the great input. As of this moment, I'm still WAITING on my stinking offer. So, I haven't made a decision. Yes, I am frustrated about the waitng part, but it's good to be wanted in this economy. Anwyay, anti-siphon valve? I literally saw gas leaking out of the can on the fuel filter, ...

Need a Litte Personal Advice - Move a 1990 F32?

Good Morning: BLUF: I have a F32 I paid $21K for in March. I'm expecting a reloation package to cover my expenses to move. Brothers Marine from Nashville area quoted me $9k to move the boat from Norfolk to Memphis. That is almost half the value. Looking for opinions whether I should move her or sell...

Hynautic Tubing Repair - Unusual End-Washer O-ring

Hi Forum: A co-worker helped me dig this out from another websit. This was a huge deal to me, because I was getting ready to call a pro and spend a lot, for an o-ring. Basically, I had a small leak coming through the helm when I bought the boat. I only have a single helm station on the fly bridge of...
