Code, Don't put rubber-backed carpet on your boat. It does nothing but trap water. Our boat had rubber-backed carpet on it when we bought it eleven years ago, and it was the first thing we got rid of. Plain old indoor-outdoor carpet works fine, and in the cockpit, if you cut it to fit, you won't nee...

Dan,

You've made several references to the hollow keel in your boat. Is this somehow different from the bilge? Can you please explain what you're referring to?

Thanks--

We're not in a position to swap, but do have our 1978 F-32 for sale. If you're interested, I'd be glad to give you the particulars. I'm not sure what the rules are for posting For Sale items on this forum.

Jim, This is very useful information - thank you! We don't have any cracks as wide as 1/2", but some of them are very long - I'm guessing up to 18" without actually going to the boat and looking again. I'd say this will be Thursday's project (next sunny day). I guess if you used 5200 on th...

Rossjo, I'll try to get some photos in the next few days. In the meantime, here's one where I've marked the rain gutter. http://www.nhawley.com/Photos/flybridgedripedge.jpg We've removed all four sections of this gutter, which reveals the joint between the flybridge sole and the salon ceiling. Accor...

Tony, We're not seeing any wet wood. Dark-colored? Hard to say. But we haven't found any punkiness. Tell me more about the drip rail area--where the upper and lower "pot lids" are joined. Do you think water is getting *in* there? Or is that where it's coming out??? What do you think about ...

Hello, all. We're in the process of tackling the leaky flybridge problem on our 1978 F-32. We've had a crack for years on the underside of the port aft corner of the flybridge (where the ladder goes up). It's been getting worse, and over the past couple of years, there are more and more cracks along...
