Re: stuffing box cord sizing
Dumb guy intruding - I had a steady leak on the stbd side, someone first suggested I repack in the water, then someone else in the harbor recommended I try tightening. Not really knowing wth I'm doing, I grabbed a big pipe wrench and I think I tightened the wrong thing - I tightened the end closest ...

Trim Tab Motor Port side - No upward movement
1990 F32 Last question today: Port & Stbd trim tabs. Port side no motor sound in up direction. Checked the switch yesterday and I think that it is functioning properly. PO left the trim tab hydraulic reservoir plug out, my genset mechanic found it in the bilge. There is fluid, but it looks like ...

Steering column hydraulic line o-rings
1990 F32
The center hydraulic line to my helm is leaking. I put the smallest o-ring on the line I could find at Advance Auto, but I think maybe there is still some play. Any advice on where to find the correct o-ring? Pressure down from 30# to 22# after 3 weeks of sitting.
Thank you.

Gas Smell after Running Engine
Good Morning: 1990 F32 Twin Crusaider 350; 850+ hours on tach; both engines rebuilt to some extent by PO - no knowledge of who, what, where. Every time I run the engines, there is a strong gas odor in the boat afterwards, sometimes a sheen in the bilge. Yesterday, I replaced the fuel filter on the p...

Re: 4" bilge blower repairs
Quick question - I replaced my missing port side 3" blower yesterday. The 4" original on stbd still works. The original port was missing. I oriented the in-line blower to suck and now I have both port and stbd sucking from bilge. Was just wondering if the smaller fan, the port one I replac...

My 3 Months Aboard my F32
I haven't been here in a few months, because I've been keeping a crazy travel schedule and work. I'm living on my 1990 F32 and have had lots of little projects. Got a couple questions. The easy stuff-update stuff: I did my first (yes, owned since Mar 5) short voyage over the weekend. I took Invictus...

Partial answer to my central question about rewire. Use 2 switches and use diagram 3 in this file:

F32 1990 DC Rewiring - Electrical Diagram?
I posted my rant in my rant thread, now I have a question for F32 owners. I want a house battery. Last night, in my deep dive, I didn't have any schematics or wiring hook-ups to look up. It looks like my boat has 2 batteries for the engine, they are wired into a DC circuit breaker just above the bil...

Re: Plumbing Update - Water & Electricity - a rant
AWWWKKKK!!!! Dammit!!!! I know people here know the immediate PO of my boat and I don't. No disrespect, he may not have been the one that did this as some things in his survey are surfacing as the problem. So, it was as a simple idea. I wanted my stereo installed. I needed to scope out the best plac...

Re: Leaky "10G" Plumbing Fittings
replaced everything today! 1/2 pex and sharkbite fittings. pretty easy for the most part (getting through the stringer to the hot water heater took some time!) just under $300 for everything at Home Depot. Nice work man. I like the red/blue color scheme. I started with just 2 pieces of the pre-cut ...

Stereo - F32 - Wiring up a new 750 W amplifier- Advice?
I have a 1990 F32. I want to add a 750 W amplifier with my new stereo. I found suitable space in the STBD side salon, behind the sliding door, farthest forward behind the partition for the galley. It will mount to the 1/4" luan that seems to cover the aft vents. Question 1: is this an ok place ...

Plumbing Update - Water & Electricity - a rant
I think I understand now why pirates of yore used the expression "arghhh" all the time: they discovered modifications to their ships made by previous owners. So, I posted about my 10g dilemma the other night because I wanted to test my hot water heater. Well, after replacing some piping I ...

Re: Leaky "10G" Plumbing Fittings
UPDATE: 10G seems to equal 3/8". ATM, the new Shark bite fittings for the sink are holding, however the downstream toilet that I rushed and didn't add a cutoff to, is busted. ATM,I'm in about $200 because the fittings are expensive. I tried to patch, as opposed to gut and replace, and I think I...

Re: Leaky "10G" Plumbing Fittings
Do you have a pressure regulator ? I am assuming your using dock water ? I am using dock-side water and haven't added a PR; I don't think there is one. However, when the dock water is turned off and there is no pressure source, the fittings still leak. try this, http://www.pexsupply.com/SharkBite-F...
