Re: Marine Transmission MG 507-A Help please!!!

You are correct as your TwinDisc does not utilize a filter unless someone has added one on. It should only use a suction screen that you just clean off and reinstall. Do NOT use the Delo 400 as it has too high of a content of sulfated ash. You should be using something with a CF-2 rating like the ol...

Re: cutless bearing

I have found that putting the bearing in the freezer before install shrinks it a few thousandths of an inch and helps considerably.

Congrats!
Yes it is a sickness.
If I don't own more than one boat at a time I get twitchy.

I purchased and ran a 1986 293 for almost 10 years. I purchased it used back in 1986 with only 16 hours on it. It was an express with a single inboard 5.0 Merc in it. The boat had a keel and handled wonderful. I put almost 1400 hours on the boat in the time that I had it. It was not fast at all, but...

Like Paul stated, you can not go off the gauges on a travel lift. I know my 12Meter aft cabin showed 34.5K and it is not anywhere near that. As long as the running gear and bottom were clean, I would check the no load max rpm as it could be a governor issue. Were both engines at the same rpm? Also c...

Oh yeah - and when I replaced my gauges a few years back I did it with Teleflex Red International series. Don't know if they are still available. I like 'em. I also replaced the original engine synchs with Teleflex equipment. Are you allowed to install ''International series'' gauges on an ''F'' se...

Plumbing antifreeze swells rubber. Any rubber bellows typically found in fresh water pumps or engine raw water pump impellers will swell if it sits in antifreeze for extended periods. I am glad that you said something Big D, Not all pink is ok to use in engines. Most around here are not and are for...

It amazes me how people try to sell big dollar items with such poorly put together ads. That one is a poster child for what not to do. The pictures are horrible. No personal description or commentary about the item at all. The specifications are not correct. No personal contact info. If I were the o...

With a bit of planing, you should be able to make this trip on one engine in that boat without issue. I use to run my 11 meter express on one engine all the time when I fished. I could run either engine and still be able to keep the boat straight without full rudder as I could check it on the autopi...

I had to replace one once that would ''sing'' pretty good and was driving the owner nuts.
There was not any appreciable play in the shaft either.
Once the bearing was out the only thing that I did notice is that the rubber seemed hard as a rock.
