That is a beautiful original. Wish I could help you on the background info. All I have on my SkiBee is a piece of paper that gives a hull number, which I've never found on the boat, and a model year of 1961. If you can track down the last registration from the previous owner, you would probably have...

prowlersfish,
Thanks for the tip. Mixing wouldn't have occurred to me, but sprinkling with Chili powder has kept them away temporarily. I need to add a couple of coats of varnish, and I notice that Chili powder, which contains cayenne, is a nice mahogany color! I plan to give it a try.
Thanks again.

Squirrels like mahogany
Imagine my disgust in finding that a squirrel had been chewing on the transom end of my gunwale-- a piece of solid mahogany with a nice big gash in it now. Anyone have ideas on how to foil these varmints, or will I have to sprinkle chili powder all over the gunwales ever time I park it like I just d...

Trim Tabs?
As I get closer and closer (ever closer) to putting my '61 SkiBee inboard on the water, I am pondering whether to re-attach the "Trim Tabs" that were attached to the bottom of the transom when I got the boat. They are just small aluminum plates with a flexible "fin" on the bottom...

Hey Lewis, I just remembered I owe you a pic of the prop/rudder assembly. Sorry it slipped my mind. I hope you received the other photos I had scanned that show the engine in its mounts and the trans or drive unit. I should go over the whole boat and just really get some detailed pics. I'm trying to...

Rats, I really wanted to post pics of that engine. It was so clean. I re-painted it to match the original aqua bluegreen, which turned out to be just what I had in an old GM hi-temp engine paint can. It brushed on and evened out just like spray. But I guess you have to find a public server to place ...
