Re: Removing Splash Rails from a F-36

Hi Dave, There were bolts at 3-4 locations along the splash rail on both sides of our boat. The furthest back was about 6" from the transom and the furthest forward near the front of the rail. These looked to be original. The previous owner had made some repairs to the rails, so I am not sure w...

Re: Engines Quit When Warm

What about adjusting your idle speed up a tad. Just keep it below 1,000 RPM in neutral as per the Velvet Drive manual.

Re: 1981 lower station throttle controls

I replaced my upper helm with Glendinning cables and they worked fine. Since I did not have new Teleflex to compare to, I cannot comment on which is better. A quick tip for replacing cables: get some couplers to attach the new cables to the old ones to help pull the new cables. The ones I used were ...

Re: ProNautic Battery Charger Install Problem

Bob, that is a good point to mention. The MRBF fuses would not fit into my battery boxes so I went with the MAXI ones instead. While not obvious from the photo, the fuses are about a foot from the battery terminals. ABYC E-11 recommends that the fuse be within 7" of the battery. Since this was ...

Removing Splash Rails from a F-36

Due to damage when hauling the boat, I decided to remove the splash rails just above the waterline near the stern. Details are in this thread: Removing Splash Rails

Re: Removing Splash Rails from a F-36

After the epoxy had cured, I sanded each area flat and faired with a polyester fairing compound. I also went around the boat with a die grinder and a fine bit to prepare all the nicks and cracks before fairing them. The next step was to sand and then apply tinted gelcoat to each area. I put three co...

Removing Splash Rails from a F-36

When our boat was hauled last winter, the splash rail on the starboard side was crushed. I had previously repaired some sections of it with fairing compound so knew it was in far from pristine shape. While I was originally going to replace it, after talking to Bob and prowlersfish, I decided to just...

Re: ProMNautic Battery Charger Install Problem

Since these were not cheap no-name fuse holders, I contact Blue Sea Systems tech support to see what they thought the cause might be. My concern was that this was not a random failure because it happened to both sides and with the 30A fuses not blowing, I had not exceeded the design criteria. After ...

When I inspected the other battery's fuse, I found that it had also overheated.

ProNautic Battery Charger Install Problem

When I installed a ProNautic 1230P battery charger in our boat, I made a logical but poor component choice that could have resulted in a fire! The instructions call for a 40A fuse at the battery, but I could only find a fuse holder rated for 30A at any of the local chandleries. With the boat in the ...

Re: 10m mid cabin - Crusader 8.1's initial impression

Congrats on a nice repower! That's a very impressive reduction in fuel use at 17k, dropping 35%.

I wonder what your sweet spot in mpg is going to end up as once you have everything sorted out, as well as your new top speed.

Re: F31 Flybridge Troubleshooting Gauges

What about having two senders, one for each brand of gauge? If they are the single gauge variety, that should work.

It might be a lot cheaper than buying a new set of gauges.
