Re: Alternators
More than just a regulation issue, it is a safety issue. Using anything that is not ignition protected in your engine room can be life threatening. A gas explosion in your boat can destroy the boat and injure or kill you. You can find more info at http://www.boatus.com/seaworthy/magazine/2016/april/...

Re: New Trojan F36 Conv owner
Welcome! From what I have heard from others, the Doyle's ICW cruise guides are top notch. Unfortunately, they just closed shop and are not printing any more. Landfall Navigation still has some inventory at http://www.landfallnavigation.com/managing.html. That guide is not a chart book, but a mile by...

If you are looking for good hose that will contain odors, you should consider Trident Sani Shield. It is pricey, but I have never heard anything bad about it.

Re: Whens your launch?
You guys are making me look bad! I promised my wife to build a large shed this spring, so the boat is sitting and not being worked on. I did buy a bunch of parts for projects over the winter, so besides bottom paint and everything else that needs to be done below the water line, I have some m...

Re: overheating dumb mistake
If you destroyed your impeller, you should look downstream from the raw water pump and make sure none of the impeller pieces have traveled there and clogged up the system. If you can piece together all the impeller pieces, you should be OK. If not, I put a sock or stocking on the hose that I remove ...

Re: 10 Meter Sedan Luxury! Vinyl Floor Project and general make over
That looks fantastic! We need to remove the carpet in our boat due to my daughters' allergy problems and this looks like a better solution than what I have been thinking of. I have a few questions: What did you trim the edges of the hatches with? I like the light color and it looks quite smooth. Did...

Re: Through hual valev
When Bob said he broke off the T-handle, I thought he was referring to the lock wingnut on the back of the valve. If it was the lever that opens/closes the seacock, I believe that threads into the bronze shaft of the plug and could be removed just like a broken bolt. That would not cause any water t...

If Beacon cannot help you out, here is some info for you: Groco SV series instructions: http://www.groco.net/SVC-MAN-07/Sec4/PDF/SV.pdf I found a couple of internet resellers showing stock of the wingnuts, but not knowing what size you need, am not showing the links. I think you can remove the shaft...

Re: vinyl wrap for hull
If you are willing to trade time for money, you might want to consider Rustoleum marine topside paint. It is a one part oil based alkyd with limited colors available. I personally have not used it, but have heard from others who have that the cost is good, the paint takes a while to dry, but is dura...

Re: Autopilot with Chain Steering?
BigD, in addition to my dealer (BOE Marine) who is quite knowledgable, I have been talking to Simrad and Octopus (who makes drives for most of the autopilot companies). It is hard getting consistent info from them, which has made the process more difficult. Gettaway, your info is helping me by letti...

Autopilot with Chain Steering?
I am thinking about adding a Simrad autopilot to our F36 that has chain/cable steering. Does anyone else have a Simrad system on their F32 or F36 with mechanical steering, and if so, which actuator do you have? The advice I am getting from my dealer is that I need to use a hydraulic linear drive. Ho...

The link I gave is to an adhesive designed to work with weatherstrip, but it did not seem to work, so I updated it. Should be working now!
