Re: WHY WE LOVE OUR BOATING LIFESYTLE

squall blows in with 60 mph winds and you have 3-4 footers in two minutes
I was going to mention the time that conditions were so bad that even the cat was puking from being sea-sick..... Ahh, memories. I'll go look and see if someone started that "Real-life boating stories" thread now.

Re: WHY WE LOVE OUR BOATING LIFESYTLE

Yeah, that's the life. The only thing left out is, everything else about boating. You know, the five trips to West Marine in one day; discovering that the PO confused AC hot and DC ground one day when your knuckles are bloodied from scraping barncales off the shaft while it's on the hard - and reach...

I have read many good things about Sailrite sewing machines in magazines that I don't care to mention in a powerboat forum. In addition to selling sewing machines (with the price, a good used one might be worth considering), they sell a wide variety of upholstery accessories. http://www.sailrite.com/

What? No gun control thread yet??

It's been more than 24 hours since Obama outlined his gun control proposals, and not one thread about the second amendment? In case you forgot: A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. For the last...

Discoveries like that warm your heart when you do your own work. If you had hired that out, what do you think an unscrupulous mechanic might have reported to you as the problem?

As the philosopher Yogi Bera once said, "You can see a lot just by looking."

One other thing. It's been a few months since I shopped, but this place had decent prices on ground tackle:

I bought the Maxwell 8 but have not installed it yet. One thing that drew me to it was the presence of an o-ring seal in the gear case. I looked at what folks had to say about Lewmar, and there were complaints about water getting into the gears because there was gasketing. I also looked at Good beca...

Excellent work. It looks like you re-painted the bilge too. And it's nice to see that the strainer is earning its keep.

Ditto on the blue-colored engines. As you say, a contrasting color makes any oil leaks easier to see.

Aaron has my vote You mean Sir Aaron of Baltimore? He's got my vote too, because he has been so much help on my tricab-specific stuff, in and out of the forum. As was previously stated, it is a tough choice to pick one person from the many good choices, Striperman, Prowlerfish and others -- it is c...

Please Aaron -- it's P-Dogg, with two g's... Now back to the thread. It is also important to give whatever liquid help you choose to use some time to work. It amazes me when people squirt some oil on and then put a wrench on immediately. Criminy -- put some oil on and go to lunch; overnight is not t...

why not just replace the water tank ? I did look briefly at replacement tanks. One vendor is: http://www.plastic-mart.com/product/6317/70-gallon-marine-water-tank-w2070-1 This is bigger than my current tank, but is the largest that will fit through the door. They also appear to have no internal baf...

Prowlerfish is (partly) correct. If documented, you cannot block the hailing port (putting the vessel name on the dink bottom doesn't count -- the name on the vessel is still blocked). However, if you are not a commercial vessel, you can put your name and hailing port on any "clearly visible ex...
