I concur with NYRaider on the steering system. You might want to check your state boating regs, but I've never heard of a problem with using cable steering on an ouboard. With inboards, you have no choice! I also probably spend more time tinkering with the boat than running it, but I don't think you...

You were fortunate with the seams. It sounds like the boat has a good solid bottom structure. Mine had fiberglass matte added to the outside of the bottom at some point. A poor job, as they did not remove the keel or the stabilizer strips. I had to remove all that, sand the entire bottom down to the...

Thanks for the pictures and documentation on what types of materials you used. That's good information for restorers! You have more patience than I do for varnishing, but the 14 coats really show off the beauty of the wood. It looks like you have the molded plywood hull. That marine plywood seems to...

Good for you! I agree the white caulk is striking against the deep color of the mahogany. 12 coats of varnish must have given you a very smooth finish, and should last a long time. I really hope you give it a run this fall. Isn't classic boating wonderful? P.S. I've found that it's quite easy to tou...

If it helps any, the only solution I've found so far is to copy my post, go back to the forum, select the topic a second time, paste my post again and re-submit. Sometimes this works, sometimes not. In any case, I always check to be sure I'm signed on and I am recognized at the top of the page where...

Invalid Session???
I've been having an awful lot of trouble responding to posts on either of the Trojanboats forums. It usually takes 2 or 3 tries to get past the "Invalid Session" message when I submit a post. What the heck is an Invalid Session? I've tried to contact the webmaster, but no luck, my e-mail w...

I dunno Dennis. Do you have the Runabout Owner's list? If you like, I can e-mail you a copy and you can ask around. Quite a few outboard runabout owners on there. Mine's an inboard, and I've been looking for years to find where the chromed metal Trojan badge is supposed to mount. I got it with with ...

NY Raider, That number looks something like the hull i.d. on my registration. I have never actually found it on the boat! Mine has two letters followed by 5 numbers: ZF39700 Yours looks like something similar, but it's really hard to make out all of the stampings. The only thing that I can read for ...
