Ok, after a long month of travel, looking for parts, cleaning up, and general foolishness, I started reassembly today. I got the heads back on, intake done, and the hull side exhaust manifold and riser installed. New plugs, and she should be good. I am missing 8 bolts, for the end plates, so I stopp...

Update! Took the manifolds off on Tuesday. I also drained all the oil/water sludge. Brought the manifolds home and filled them with acetone to check for leaks. I didn't see any, but I am not convinced that they are not the culprit for water entry. Today I went down and stripped the engine to the blo...

Went down to the marina today. Put all of my bumpers out and left a message for the guy, in the slip next to me, to move down one if he can (we usually have an empty slip between us). Checked the spring line, all the other lines, and took down the stern cover. We were going to ride it out in the mar...

I will keep that in mind. I have a spare block but, of course, it is the Std. rotation engine.

I hope it is even simpler  I do have access to a trailer and a hoist if I have to pull the engine, so at least there's that.

Nope, just noticed it as it was missing on a cylinder. Pulled the hatch open, and it was pouring out. Shut her down right then.

I am going to check all the rods to make sure that none got bent.

I am guessing it is a rusted out manifold, but it will have to wait until next weekend to figure out. I have spare heads, but not spare manifolds

blew an engine

Irritating to say the least. My starboard engine gave up the ghost as we were headed out yesterday. Water has entered the block somehow, and the valve cover vent conveniently dumped all that pretty pancake batter down the intake. I am going to pull off the manifold, and heads, and find the leak. I a...

prowlersfish wrote:Is this the same noise you thought has a engine noise ? What is the shaft hitting ?
The same engine, but I figured out that the actual engine noise was a leaky exhaust gasket.

The shaft is hitting the bronze thru hull plate at the underside of the hull.

"At about 1900 rpms she makes a racket, but will stop hitting at anything over that. The shaft is only 1" OD, so it will self center once the rotational speed picks up." That real makes no sense to me , Is it only making the noise in gear ? if so I would try aligning the engine / tra...

Well, she started tapping again  At about 1900 rpms she makes a racket, but will stop hitting at anything over that. The shaft is only 1" OD, so it will self center once the rotational speed picks up. So I am left with a delimma: I know that I can safely run her, on plane, without the sha...

Heefus, Since you and I both have F28 I look forward to seeing what you did, how you did it where is the tank, pump etc. I just got a notice here in TX that all toileted boats need an MSD certification from Texas of course that cost $15 for two years. I would call this a crappy crapper tax. :twiste...

new crapper!

I am headed down to install my brand new throne, a Jabsco manual pump toilet. The old one doesn't work very well anymore, so I ordered the shiny new one.

Yes, I am completely thrilled. No, it is not weird 8)

Got her back to the marina today  No rumbles, taps, klincks, or vibrations. Ran her up to 23mph for a couple of miles, then cruised at 18mph for the final 6 miles. She was very well behaved. I adjusted the stuffing boxes, after she cooled off a bit, then covered her up for the night. All in al...
