Nice.
But how long did it take you to decide where you wanted them? I know if it were me, it would have taken a month of just thinking about it.

Re: Weight of 30 Gallon Galvanized Steel Fuel Tank
It would be a good time to install a check valve in the vent system to prevent fuel spills when filling up . I use the Racor LG-100 ( work gas or diesel ) no more fuel spills . The racor LG-50 is also highly rated . Not a bad idea. I think I'll see how bad the vents spray or spit before I purchase ...

Re: Weight of 30 Gallon Galvanized Steel Fuel Tank
I made a bracket out of a scrap 2x4 to support the hose. I used a hole saw to make a nice round edge and then sanded any remaining sharp edges. Then with brackets I attached it to the stiffeners of the cockpit floor. I holds it pretty tight to the underside of the cockpit floor. I'll try to get some...

Re: Weight of 30 Gallon Galvanized Steel Fuel Tank
Yes. You can remove the tanks with the engine in place on the 71 and 72 year F26's with V-drives. You just need to remove the exhaust hose from the elbow to the transom. I used a 4" rubber cap to plug up the thru exhaust seeing it's at the water line. I did all this while in the water. Be caref...

Re: F44 Cruisair not pumping water
My A/C pump looses it's prime when I run on plane. I have to close the sea cock before I leave the slip to avoid this. When I forget to close it, I have to undo the hose at the discharge thru hull and suck the water through to prime it. Most of these A/C pumps aren't self priming.

Re: Packing Nut Thread Direction
That's what I have in mine. Works great and barely drips. Just make sure you use a sharp razor blade to cut the rings. I think I was able to get 3 rings in my stuffing box. You may want to pickup a cheap pick set from Harbor Freight or some where to dig out the old packing. A few of my fellow dock m...

Re: Packing Nut Thread Direction
My packing nut was standard (righty tighty). Just make sure you lock it good with the locking nut and she shouldn't back off. I believe the packing is 1/4" size. Good luck getting to it, I don't think I will ever own another V-drive boat just because of access to the stuffing box.

My Trojan is 2 years older than me. And I've had her for 9 years. You would think I'd have more done to her after 9 years.

Re: 1972 F26 Fuel Tank Replacement
Installed some wood shims on top of the existing stiffeners to level out the future tank support. Used 5200 and screwed them down. Gonna glass them in next. http://i853.photobucket.com/albums/ab96/vabeach1234/Trojan%20F26/Trojan%20F26%20Fuel%20Tank%20Replacement/E8243D17-31CB-448A-994F-06EAD9A656AE-...

Re: 1972 F26 Fuel Tank Replacement
Here are some photos of the boat with the port side tank removed and the mock up new tank platform and tank. The new tank is 12" high and you need to add another 3" for the fill inlet. I will need to level the platfrom by building up the existing stiffeners that the plywood support will re...

Re: 1972 F26 Fuel Tank Replacement
Yes, the engine was still in the boat. I didn't even have to remove the exhaust mainfolds, just the exhaust hose and muffler between the engine and transom. The tanks I got were the poly thanks. Sorry guys, I just couldn't justify the cost of Aluminmum tanks for such an old boat. They are not moelle...
