why not just replace the water tank ? I did look briefly at replacement tanks. One vendor is: http://www.plastic-mart.com/product/6317/70-gallon-marine-water-tank-w2070-1 This is bigger than my current tank, but is the largest that will fit through the door. They also appear to have no internal baf...

Prowlerfish is (partly) correct. If documented, you cannot block the hailing port (putting the vessel name on the dink bottom doesn't count -- the name on the vessel is still blocked). However, if you are not a commercial vessel, you can put your name and hailing port on any "clearly visible ex...

One of the reasons that I like the Weaver system is because there are various options for dinghy attachment. You are not compelled to glue mounting points to your tubes, something I am reticent to do. You can attach mounts (assuming RIB) to the hull and transom, a process I consider (semi) reversibl...

I just completed a great deal of research on the matter. I came to the conclusion that Weaver davits (with an additional winch or block and tackle for lifting) would suit my Tricabin the best because: 1). Mounting the dinghy on edge reduces your overall length, which is often a plus. 2). On-edge mou...

anyone else gotta list ? 1). Finish installing fresh water tank level sensor, right after I..... 2). Remove, sandblast, and recoat the interior of the fresh water tank with a product called Brewcoat. The sending unit screws into a female pipe thread. To get said thread where I needed it, I rolled a...

An advantage of the rudder angle indicator is that it tells you where, well, your rudder is. If you have hydraulic leak in the steering, the mark on your wheel will slowly move out of position over time. Or so I've heard.......

Thank you. I get lots of practice at work, where I am a mechanical engineer engaged in, among other things, copious amounts of technical writing. For my next act, I'll detail the complete rebuild and refurbishment of my underwater exhaust, including, Aaron, how to install the bellows! Look for that ...

Very nice work -- please do tell how they work out after you get them installed. A 5-axis mill I presume? What was your source for LEDs? Did you make your own pulse width modulated dimmer or buy one off the shelf?

MID-ENGINE TRICAB -- FUEL LINE CHAFING FOUND

In the aviation world, the FAA issues airworthiness directives and service difficulty reports to address hazardous mechanical issues. Not having a similar program set-up for boats, I'm broadcasting what I found here so that folks bright enough to read this forum can at least benefit. While tightenin...

You have to crawl like one of the tunnel diggers in The Great Escape to move around down there A bad feature even if you are paying someone to work on your engines. Good engine access is one of the reasons I chose the mid-engine tricab. The whole salon floor is removable, and the outboard sides of ...

Aaron, unless your radiation has affected you, the term is "pea green."

I might be back in the water on Saturday, with engine alignment check on or about Monday before cruising anywhere on my new cutlass bearings.

Correct tricabin sling locations

Looking to verify that my sling marks are in the correct location. Can someone refer me - or have - documentation that specifically references the proper sling location? It's a 1985 tri. Thanks, Perry

for warranty purposes For added warranty protection, consider buying enough oil and filter(s) to do one oil change at a time, and save your receipts. You can't prove that you actually changed the oil, but you can prove that you bought oil repeatedly. If you buy in bulk, there is no way to show when...
