Re: The Sinking of the Sea Mar III

I remember that boat. She used to make runs to Nassau from time to time. The condition I remember her in was Bristol, she looked pretty seaworthy.

Re: Getting in too deep?

If you have to ask, then the answer is yes. a 42 foot yacht is a expensive hobby. Throw in the fact that it is a 44 year old wooden boat and you are talking about opening yourself up to a major cash drain. You could easily spend another 14K in your first year of ownership. You can't defer the mainte...

Re: DC poice boat crash

What the hell, was he even chasing someone? I just found this- Officers left in a hurry, and later said that they were responding to an emergency call, CNN reports. In a video (above) taken by a witness, a boat cop asked one of the owners, "Are you injured? OK, then relax." nice. Did they ...

Re: 1984 Tri-cabin hull drain location(s)

[/quote]Has this become the norm now for the seller to get the survey, this is not the first time I'm seeing this? I rather trust my surveyor who would be focused on the buyers protection...... What about the deck area which is away from the stanchions? Like near pulpit, windlass and hatches?[/quote...

Re: f 26 hardtop weight

Wow, I wonder what changed in construction? I know my FB adds some weight, but I am over 7,000 empty. I have some core issues on the foredeck and port side deck, but could I be holding 500 - 1000 pound of mositure there? 75-83 brochure lists empty weight of an express at 6,000. Anyone who has had m...

Re: Need some advice on varnishing

Todd P, yes it's gloss. I like the satin finish too but gloss on the flooring seem to make the boat "pop". I used 2 coats of sealer before the varnish.

Todd B, thanks, it was a lot of trial and error.

Re: Need some advice on varnishing

I've done a lot of varnishing and I'm still not to the level that I would like to be but here is what I've been told by the pro's to do. 2 of sealer, 4 coats on exterior, followed by 4- 8 coat of straight varnish. The pro's add 333 brushing liquid to the varnish but I can't seem to keep full coverag...

Re: 1996 390

Hello and welcome to the forum. I'll let the meter guys answer the question about the hull but I can tell you right off the bat that it doesn't have a Bertram hull. The only boats with a Bertram hull are the boats that say "Bertram" on the side of the boat and were built at the Bertram fac...
