Re: New problem upper steering

1978 F36- I looked under the upper helm and it is just a square box with three cables connected to it I think and no shaft that I saw.
I have the manual on the boat and it says type A atf or hydraulic fluid.I will make sure before I pour anything into her when I go there tomorrow.

Re: New problem upper steering

OK-you mean where the bilge area is?-open rear cover and I should see the cables going to it? I'm not at the boat right now. I know it uses type "A" tranny fluid I think. I hope it is the flluid. anyway it is a plus one for dual helms. I took her out for awhile and came back in ok. It's a ...

New problem upper steering

Went to take her out and new something was wrong. No steering upper station. Wheel just turns and turns forever.
Lower station works fine.I didn,t see any leaks underneath. Where do I begin. Could be just fluid?

Re: starboard engine problem

Hey Todd thanks for the offer,I appreciate it. I thought I posted before but I don't see it yet. I went down there today after finding a 440 chrysler ignition coil. Shumay didn't have one and west marine didn't have one anyway I found one and bought sparkplug wires also for the 440 chrysler and it c...

Re: starboard engine problem

thanks-I thought of that and did exactly that last night. I always run the blower for awhile if I even smell the slightest hint of gas. That usually smells like that when she is flooded. I have not had a chance to go down to the boat yet today and it is almost 3 P.M. and I have to pick up my eyeglas...

Re: starboard engine problem

Thanks prowlersfish. Funny how fate plays a hand. I have spare rotors and distributor caps, fuel filters, oil filters-extra hoses for the cooling system and resistors but no coil. I was a little POed as I really worked on her to get her ready. Right next to me in the next slip is a morse Sailboat whic...

starboard engine problem

I was going to take the boat out with some family members today for the first time and boat started fine as usual. ran it for about twenty minutes and untied and eased out. Just got out of the slip and the starboard engine quit. I tried and tried but she would not restart so we had the port engine a...

Re: Launch Day

I have the F36 and took her over 100 mile trip through the canal system part way and then about 60 miles down lake ontario. engines never missed a beat but if I pushed her I felt some vibration and found out when they pullered her out one of my props needed a little work. The vibration showed up goi...

Re: windlass

I have been busy down at the boat and trying to get here ready for may 19th-launch date. took out the old carpet and installing new with snaps and thinking of getting a snap cover of some type so when it is lousy out I won't track everything into the boat.Just a quick snap in type cover. I originall...

I have a 1978 F36 convertible Sedan. Last year when I drifted down a river-it was a pain to come down from the flybridge and haul in the anchor and then again to drop it at another spot. granted you don't need one if you stop offshore once or twice but repeated stops get to be a pain. I know you can...

Re: airconditioning?

I went there and it did have a register under the seat-never saw that or even looked for it but for a filter he had a furnace filter that he cut to size with a scissors. Plugged solid also he made a wooden plenum for the return air side but it was not sealed right. there is an opening at the top of ...

Re: side vent for F36

Prowlerfish Right! I can't understand why he sold it to me so cheap? He runs the Marina next to Shumway where I keep my boat. Maybe it's because I stored my other boat with him a few years ago. Still he could have asked for a lot more. I went by the boat today and looked at that F36 and saw that it ...
