You can hide the colour difference on your cabin door if you use the regular Cetol. You will likley find after 3 or 4 coats that the pigments in the cetol 'blend' and the the result will look pretty consistent regardless of underlying wood colour.

I have a Sunbrella white mesh on the windshield. It is similar to Phifertex, but Phifertex is more of a polymer plastic (and will dry out and crack over time), and as a result you need to be careful about how much you bend / fold it, while the Sunbrella stuff is really a mesh of cloth. Really cuts d...

With about 4 coats I get 3 seasons out of it. This fall I did light sanding on some chipped spots and added 2 more.

Hey - maybe you should move north to Canada !! I have only shoveled twice so far this winter, no more than 2" either time. The boat is still tucked away, but at least we're not having to slog it!

There is a total beauty around here that I have got to get pictures of and post some day... An old 36' Fly Bridge Sedan, probably 1967 or so, named Lady J... Custom swim platform that looks like its always been there, extended hard top over the entire cockpit, huge mast to carry radar, electronics, ...

TAD... I normally go through just under a gallon for my F32. I used VC17 for a few years and just barely got done with 4 quarts or sometimes needed 5 (it evaporates pretty quickly), but my recent stripping / repainting with Micron CSC took a little less than a gallon (probably 3.5 quarts) per coat.

Different kinds of paint work different ways as well. Some 'hard paints' are full of stuff that 'tastes bad' to the critters that might decide to hitch a ride, so they let go. The paint is designed so that these chemicals leech out of the paint over time. The down side - once most of the stuff has l...

Find one in good shape, stay on top of it to keep it in good shape, and it will be good to you. Let it get away from you and you will have a heck of a time getting it back under control again. I always find the Classics to be more, well, classy...

Got this one in my Yachtworld Personal Boat Shopper listing today ... Believe its owner is also a member of the forum. Boat is not in Chicago, but you CAN get it there from Toronto either over land or by entirely by water (taking the 'scenic' route). Or you could go Toronto to Welland Canal to Lake ...

Be careful about this one... I was going past this place on the train between Xmas and New Years, and noticed a boat in their yard appeared to have fallen off its blocks (unless someone blocked it at a 30 degree angle to begin with...). Don't know if it was this boat (just saw it out of the corner o...

Most likely issues would be wiring problems or gauge mismatched with sender. What make / model of gauges did you remove, and what did you replace them with ?

You would be surprised how much difference there is in how a 'woody' moves at low speed. My father had the same model as this - 28" Sea Skiff, but the 1969 model - for 25 years. Its the boat I learned on. It tends to track and hold its line better than the glass models. In these boats, the issu...

I am from a slightly different climate that you Florida types, so wear will be a bit different... I have Cetol on my swim platform and the 'boarding strips', varnish (Interlux Goldspar) on the aft rails, and Cetol overcoated with Cetol Gloss on my pulpit. I have been told Goldspar is discontinued. C...

Had tried to post this yesterday but post failed for some reason... A couple of years back I had a problem with one engine refusing to rev over 3200 rpm. Another 'symptom' - throttles way out of whack. To get that engine speed I had that engine's throttle fully forward, while the other engine was on...
