Re: Sandblasting Swim Platform
Just an interim update - the blasting is going very well and the platform is looking really good. I hope to have it all completed and re-installed perhaps this weekend. Inclement weather is hindering a little with rain off and on. The PO had really slopped the varnish on in some places which has bee...

Re: Sandblasting Swim Platform
Thanks for all of the feedback. After watching several videos on YouTube of boat owners very successfully sandblasting their platforms (one even doing it while still attached) and researching the subject extensively online with BlastJournal and others, I decided to do the blasting. I have learned th...

Sandblasting Swim Platform
I am getting ready to refinish my swim platform. The PO varnished the entire platform - in place - and the varnish is now beginning to peel and flake off. I have removed the entire platform and ladders from the boat and am planning to sandblast the remainder of the varnish off of the wood. I was won...

Re: WOT Questions
From a purely engineering standpoint, Torque, HP, and RPM are all inter-related and cannot be dis-associated or considered independently of one another. The formula for calculating any of the three is as follows: T = (HP * K)/RPM where T = Torque, HP = Horsepower, RPM = Revolutions/Minute, and K = a...

Re: New Member with questions after sea trial
I am not sure what the concerns are about running WOT. Every engine is designed to be able to run at WOT under load (which for boats are the props) for extended periods of time or you would never have the capability to do that with the expense of warranties being what it is to the manufacturer. Airp...

Painting of shower panels - good idea?
I have a '79 Tri-cabin and my wife has been wondering if it is possible to successfully paint the shower panels in the master head? They appear to be masonite panels (or something similar) with a coating of some sort on the side of the panel that gets wet. I am not sure what type of paint would need...

Re: Shower pump running continuously. Need some tips
My '79 Tri-cabin has the pump located as Aaron indicated under the floor right outside the access door to the head but it has no float switch. It is operated by a rocker switch on the port side wall panel in the aft head where the shower is.

Trojan in my bloodline
Have you ever wondered why you are attracted to certain design lines in a boat? Why is it I prefer the classic lines of a Trojan and really don't like the design lines of the new breed of powerboats? Well over the holidays, my sister-in-law decided to trace our lineage back as far as she could to se...

Re: 36' Tricabin Aft head
My '79 has the slanted mirror which swings upward to reveal a sizable storage space underneath for all of the standard toiletries. The mirror is in two pieces instead of one.

Re: New to the forum
Welcome aboard. We love our '79 Tri-cabin and have spent a lot of time and some money getting it just the way we want it. It is a great boat for travelling and really amazing in the waves. We boat on the Great Lakes where storms can come up quickly and have found that it is quite stable. It is also ...

Welcome and looks like you have a Tri-Fly which is a rarer form of the Tri-cabin.

Re: Just my 1973 F322 cruising, 27 mph, how fast is yours?
My tri-cabin ran 32K on the GPS at WOT on Lake Michigan two summers ago right after a major tuneup, carb rebuild, and new distributors. It was a calm cool morning and I let it run that way for about 5 minutes. I was in about 55 feet of water and the water temp at the surface was about 62 degrees. I ...

Re: Reconsidering
Sounds like a great project and an innovative way to use parts that you know well and have confidence in to help minimize the cost. I love the down east style of lobster boat and fell in love with the lines and the look several years ago when we spent two weeks on the Maine seacoast around Rockland....
