Re: 1971 F-26 Repower Diesel or Gas?

Let's see cruise speed at 3200 rpm is 23-24 knots at that I averaged 5-5.5 gph Top speed is 26-27 knots at 4300 rpm I didn't do a gph test at wot as I didn't stay there long I do not have vortec heads that setup is 290-300 hp and the trans will not handle that much. Here are the pics I had to go wit...

Re: 1971 F-26 Repower Diesel or Gas?

Ken, Just so you know the entire re-power cost me a little over $10,000.00 for a boat that sells for $3,500.00 lol but I love this boat! The only reason I decided not to rebuild the bulletproof 318 was that the parts were at least 1.5 times more than any other engine brand (gas not diesel) its much ...

Re: What Did You Get For Christmas?

I probably should have mentioned earlier and photographed the "C" Chanel that they mount into. It's in the boat shed as it's 2 8 foot pieces and I don't have room for them in the house. I got it as a gift so I don't know the website but i will post as soon as I find out. It was created for...

Re: What Did You Get For Christmas?

I checked they are mounted on the side of antenna and are only visible from front and rear and the side as the antenna blocks it from being viewed from the wrong side

Re: 1971 F-26 Repower Diesel or Gas?

Well technicly the 6v53t is a 318 ci engine but huge heavy and noisy lol never fit in an f26 The only diesel I found that would work with the f-26 that would bolt on to the pv31 was a iveco s30 230bhp @ 4000 rpm inline 4 turbo diesel but $$$$$$$ expensive! It would pay for itself after a while burni...

Re: 1971 F-26 Repower Diesel or Gas?

VAbeach1234 I used a 1974 engine block ( I would recommend just getting a Marine power bobtail two links at the end) rebuilt with crusader parts In the pictures above on page 7 I used a pair of slightly used end rise manifolds, they were not good (cracked) so there are center rise manifolds in it no...

Re: 1971 F-26 Repower Diesel or Gas?

So the F-26 is running fabulous with the new 350 I had to change the prop out so I went with a acme ( they have an amazing 3 blade with as much surface as a 4 which I wanted for better handling during parking my single screw) 13x9 3 blade in order to turn 4600 Rpms i had a 14x12 on prior and I could...

Re: 1971 F-26 Repower Diesel or Gas?

Ok I dont know if I am cursed with bad luck or what but "the boat mechanic (aka Wag... boat yard in Leonardo NJ" has had my boat for two and a half months now. His job was to install the engine into the f-26, balance, align, install drive shaft, prop, tune, test drive ( sea trial), and set...

Re: 1971 F-26 Repower Diesel or Gas?

I'm taking the engine and boat seperatly to Wagners boat yard in Leonardo they will install it mic tune the shaft and sea trial the boat for me for $500 it would cost me almost double to do it myself between renting backhoe and paying Trojan bob to help. Ill take pics of it when it's all done. So ev...

Re: 1971 F-26 Repower Diesel or Gas?

Well I haven't posted in a while because things haven't been going my way with the f-26. So my nieghbor and my buddy with a backhoe were setting up the engine (318) to be removed. My buddy inadvertently wrapped the chain around the drive shaft instead of just the engine and as we were pulling the en...
