I have a 1972 F-26 with a paragon v-drive. The v-drive is right under the stairs going down into the cabin. It does provide for a slightly larger cabin and puts more weight further aft. One benefit is you have great access to the front of the motor, but the packing nut where the shaft goes through t...

c abbott, Do you still have a Chrysler 318? If so, ebasicpower.com has a lot of chrysler parts and usually ship pretty quick. I ordered my exhaust manifolds and FWC kit from there when I had a remanufactured 318 installed 2 years ago. I assume you have a Paragon PV31 V-drive. I have researched and r...

prowlersfish, I haven't moved the boat much in the past month because of work load. So chances are it wasn't me. Are you going to Hampton Bay Days? If the weather is right, the Paula Sea will be rafted up to 34' Mainship on the Hampton River between the Settlers Landing Road Bridge and Highway 64, u...

My 1972 F-26 hull number is 231-2061. This was before they standardized the hull numbering across the board for all recreation boats in Nov. 1972. I'm pretty sure mine is a 1972 and I would assume based on our hull numbers that mine is a little younger than yours. http://www.putfile.com/vabeach1234/...

We bought our 1972 F-26 in July of 2004. So just over 4 years now. Great boat for the money and still going strong. Everyone is amazed at how much room is in the cabin for a 26' boat. We replaced the motor with a reman 318 2 years ago, added a cockpit enclosure, changed the 9 gal holding tank to a 2...

Seacast is a great product for transom repair provided you have an inner and outer hull. If you don't have a cavity to pour it into you either have to make a temporary inner hull or cast the seacast in a form and then install it. I used it on an imitation whaler and it worked great. But I had to ord...

Cutlass bearing for a 1972 F26 Trojan Express

FYI I am in the process of replacing the cutlass bearing on my 1972 F26 Trojan Hardtop Express. I had to remove the strut and then use a hack saw and a set of sockets to pound out the old bearing. The required bearing was for a 1" shaft and had an outside diameter of 1 1/4" and was 4"...

Looking at the Trojan Catalogs on this website http://www.trojanboats.net/images/f%2025%20Express%20Performance.jpg It states at 2500 rpm you burn 7.8 gph at 3000 rpm 11.2 gph and at 4000 rpm 20.3 gph I have a 1972 F26 Trojan Express with a 318 and V-drive with a 14x11 prop and I burn pretty close t...

I just had a prop balanced from a local prop shop. The prop guy told me that you can change the pitch up to 2" either way. But the efficiency of the prop decreases because you can't change the angle of the blades near the base of the blade, only at the ends.

1972 F-26 Cutlass Bearing Size?

Well I'm gonna haul the boat soon to replace the prop, zincs and such. I figured it's probably time to replace the cutlass bearing (have a vibration) but I don't know the exact size I need. I know the shaft is 1" diameter but I'm not sure of the length or outside diameter of the bearing. I'm gu...

This is just an idea but have you looked into Seacast at http://www.transomrepair.com I just used this stuff in the transom of my 13' Dell Quay. It's pourable and if you don't add too many fibers, it will level out. Of course it will be heavier than foam, but the people at seacast says it's floats. ...

You also might want to check the fuel pick-up in the tank. A friend had a similar problem and it turned out that the pick-up tube had a screen in it and it was clogged with rust flakes. He had to stick a cloths hanger in the pick up tube and knock out the screen. This of course allowed the rust and ...
