Some of mine came out real easy, like around the anchor rode hole, where it was rotted almost completely out; and some took quite a bit of digging...it was wet but still solid. That was the way I found the core in my deck. Even though the core was totally saturated, it was still stuck to both the d...

Watch the rudder shaft as you have someone turn the wheel. You stated that the tiller arm was moving, so this would idicate that the steering mechanisam is working. When the tiller arm moves, does the rudder shaft also move, or is the arm slipping on the shaft? If the shaft isn't moving with the arm...

The radio uses its maximum power when transmitting. You should use wire large enough to power the radio so you have no more then a 3% voltage drop. You will find a chart in the West Marine catalog. (page 427 of the 2008 catalog) The length of wire is measured by the distance the run is from the batt...

Starboard is not strong enough. Keep with the white oak. In 20-30 years you can replace it again.

Where ever you put the transducer, it should be in a clear water flow. What I mean by clear water flow, is undisturbed water. The water going past the transducer should not pass over the keel, intakes, or any other thing that would disrupt the flow. It doesn't matter whether it is a through hull, tr...

White oak was used to hold the rudder posts. It is very strong and should not be replaced with any other type of wood.

Trojan used mahogany for the splash rail on the F36. It holds paint well and machines easily. White oak would work well, but it is more difficult to machine since it is harder. The stainless steel does not come preformed, but is easily bent. Use a grinder to form the points on each end. I replaced t...

I believe the chain you are looking for is a #41 chain. The first # (4) is the spacing of the teeth on the sprocket. The second # (1) is the width of the chain in eighth's. (1/8")

Bill, you don't need that long of an anchor line. A 7:1 scope will be enough to hold the anchor in almost any condition, but the deeper the water the less scope you will need. Your anchor line will resemble a parabola with the angle of the slope increasing as the depth increases. What you will need ...

The best way I have found to repair the wood around a stripped screw is to plug the hole with a dowel rod epoxied in and cut flush. If you can enlarge the hole by drilling it out first it will be better. You just want what you are securing to cover the enlarged hole. You will need to allow the epoxy...
