Re: Vexing Boat Leveler Problem

At that point, yes. The line had been disconnected.

Re: Vexing Boat Leveler Problem

No, that tab was frozen stuck halfway up. The problem started with the boat in the water, which is what triggered my current re-build/troubleshooting. I tried to push it in after removing the cylinder pin and detaching it from the tab, but she was stuck fast. That's why I thought there was a seal th...

Re: Vexing Boat Leveler Problem

Now we're talking, Paul. One thing I DID do (after the cylinders were disconnected) was move the tabs up and down, broke free any paint buildup (which probably wasn't a major issue) and sprayed the full length of the hinge with a healthy dose of WD40. I'm sure they're much freer to move now, at leas...

Re: Vexing Boat Leveler Problem

I appreciate the replies so far, guys, but I'm really not looking for any parts. Parts are not an issue. I plan on keeping everything Boat Leveler brand, just wondering if I'm maybe looking at an issue with the pump under the circumstances described. I don't think it's a problem with the hydraulic l...

Vexing Boat Leveler Problem

Last year I experienced a problem with my port trim tab (Boat Leveler). It would only return halfway (travelling back up toward the transom with spring assistance). I assumed there was a seal issue, to decided to replace the seals on both cylinders, as they're the originals that came on the boat, I'...

Re: Where's Aaron?

Paul was considerate enough to shake my tail recently (h/t to the Prowler....) and get me back in the game.

Still here, still kickin', still............BOATING LAKE MICHIGAN ON MY PRIDE AND JOY (Mrs. Hart notwithstanding............)!

Re: USCG Documentation ~ educate me

We still have to pay the state registration fee here in Michigan, and display the State registration sticker forward of center, an appropriate distance above the waterline to make it easily visible, blah blah blah. Haven't been stopped by any LE agency as of yet (and I've got a USCG station right at...

Re: Electrical issue

Thanks for that, Larry. I'll pass that on to my mechanic. I DO have rockers switches at both helms; I'm assuming they are original. And it does sound while the tabs are actuating that they are struggling with power. It's not a smooth-sounding process.

Re: Electrical issue

I seem to recall the red reset button having "15" on it, for what that's worth.

Re: Electrical issue

Okay, the vented gray box that is humming is actually a Professional Mariner 2 Bank Power Supply/Multi Charger (15 amp.12V D.C.). I thought it was humming louder, but maybe not. The black box the trim tabs are connected to is in fact that emergency starter. On one side of it there is a red re-set bu...

Re: Electrical issue

To answer your question directly, I would say that no, they probably wouldn't - though the ultimate proof of the existence/absence of that valve could go several ways. That said, I am ONLY contemplating taking the valve off long enough to burn off the 75 gallons of gas in the tank - a matter of a fe...

Re: Electrical issue

No, I'm in full agreement with you both of you. I work in an intensively safety-conscious environment (chemical manufacturing plant) and have brought that culture to my personal life (using gloves, protective eye wear, hearing protection, etc). We were saying the exact same thing on the dock last we...

Re: Electrical issue

I agree it sounds like a ground issue . Can you post a photo of the humming box ? I don't think this is your problem but when I lost power to my trim tabs I found the circuit breaker inside the" Black box" that contains the" Emergency start" relay . The photo will have to wait u...
