I stripped down my swim platform with a belt sander then a palm sander last spring and applied three coats of Sikkens Cetol natural teak, it brought out all of the grain and still looks good. Hopefully it'll last two or three seasons before I have to redo it. I haven't decided yet how I'm going to ...

6. Remove and refinish shower bench seat.

I think that's all the wood getting done this winter.

Lets see: 1. Refinish teak-and-holly interior companionway/dinette/galley sole. 2. Remove and refinish bridge ladder steps. 3. Remove and refinish swim platform (anyone have any good ideas for refinishing the mahogany/teak supports?). 4. Refinish boarding 2-step ladder. 5. Installing new stereo spea...

Surely there's SOME amount of steam that's acceptable, isn't there? I certainly get some out of BOTH of my exhaust pipes. The amount of steam you see coming out of the exhaust is related to the humidity in the air. On very humid days, it looks like I have a smoke screen behind me. On dry days, I ha...

Picture is "representative"............? Dead giveaway along with the "too good to be true" label.

Wouldn't touch it with a 10-foot pole.

I really like the look of that lighter interior wood as well. It's something I was debating on doing to lighten up the interior a bit. Did you refinish the wood in place, take off what you could and do the rest in place.......? Looks great, and reminds me of the color of the teak I used to do on my ...

Yeah, the Farias are the units I've been looking at. I've got a ton of dash space on my upper helm, and I've always thought a snchronizer of any sort was a good use of space, so that 3-4" gauge isn't really an issue to me. From the researching I've been doing, it looks that, for my engines, the...

Synchronizer gauge recommendation?

I'd like to install a synch gauge on my upper helm station, as I'm not big into the "synch by ear only" method.

Can anyone recommend a decent (and not incredibly expensive) synchronizer gauge?

Thanks.

I appreciate that reply.

So, the switches I'm looking at are the correct ones to replace with?

I would think removing the prop would give you more noticeable results if you were running a little faster past idle on the single engine. If you don't plan no pushing it much, I probably wouldn't bother. In close quarters, at idles speeds, certainly it wouldn't do much. I'm guessing it's not worth ...

I want the $49 SeaTow! I think I pay $169/yr. Actually, my $49 towing is through TowBoatU.S. I believe the benefit is for the most part unlimited and has a 50-mile offshore range (at least out of my home port of Manistee). For $49/year? Not even a question. That's two hours in most any mid-grade ea...

Re: poll

I can maintain a straight line on the starboard engine, the best I can do on the port engine is a fairly quick turn to the right. I discovered this while trying to negotiate the miami river. http://www.collegefair.org/11_meter_progress_page.htm If memory serves, it has to do with the direction of p...
