Stickey cables

Post by AwayOnBusine$$ »

Can anyone recall the article on freeing up sticky cables by forcing oil through with a compressor. On my list for this year.

I made the tools to do this with reinforced pvc tube, valve stem, hose clamps and marvel mystery oil per the post from the forum. I put in 15psi pressure and it took about 4 hours to get oil out the other end. Worked well! hope you have same outcome

Works for sticky non-boat cables too. Hat tip to the OP of that idea!
I needed a less expensive hobby, so I bought a boat!

Thanks. Need to try this. Everything OK at lower helm. Much prefer to pilot from upper helm. Can get difficult to move port cable. Really causes problems when trying to back into a 14' space when you can't go from forward to reverse instantly in a cross wind.
