Custom F32 Radar Arch in progress

Post by rossjo »

Here's the Radar Arch I'm building in my spare time.
It is 1"OD, 16Ga (0.065" wall) 304L stainless steel tubing, Swagelok orbital TIG welded together with 316 cast stainless fittings.

I still need to MIG in the set screw holes, clean welds, electropolish, final buff and install ...

Here's the welds:

Thanks guys - appreciate the comments.

The St. Augustine suffers in this area - always a project going on ;-) I have it at home to clean, buff, drill, wire and mount radar. LED lights, spreader lights(s), antenna mounts (2 VHF, 1 AM/FM, 1 TV) to over the next couple weeks ... Thinking of mounting my new stainless horns up there - what do you think?

We have some Navy nuc guys here (CHS, SC) - need to get one to help do the welds that we can't get with the oribital! I ran into one at one of the boat shows, but didn't get his name/number. You guys have the training!

No price - not sure we want to make these for sale - its a LOT of work ...

You want to build one for me? I will be glad to pay you. I can give you a good set of dimensions and even provide you with some drawings I will make. I am an engineer and do 3D solid modeling for a living.

We can do it ... didn't think this was going to be a business area for us, but why not?

I'm an ME as well ... used CAD since 1979 ... from te old 2D wireframe days to Solids and parametrics. Most of my career was using UniGraphics CAD and alot of CAm (3 axis machining prototypes and tooling). Use Solidworks and Soldi Edge some now, but mostly simply 3D wireframe for RNR-Marine projects.

Email me with some sketches and dimensions ...
