F26 question.. fitting

Post by gopher »

Theres a huge 3'' through the hull valve just below the helm chair connected to nothing.
Since I'm still learning this boat, any thoughts as to what purpose it may have served at one time. (other than to scuttling the boat in 4 minutes)?

valve

Post by Paul »

Gopher,

My F-26 draws water thru this valve for cooling the engine. I have upgraded this valve to a ball style valve.

Hope this helps

Yes -

These F-26s were Government patrol boats, available to the public. 8) This "scuttle valve" is to be used to protect the top secret, technically advanced propulsion unit from capture and scrutiny by enemy forces.

I have a spare valve in my F32 as well - so I tell everyone the same story. Ha!

My head discharge is located under the helm but it's only a 1 1/2" thru hull. Maybe the previous owner of your boat had digestive problems. Ouch.

I also have the 1-1/2 discharge for the head under the helm. No longer used since the holding tank was added since the entire Narragansett Bay is a no discharge zone.

I think the discharge valve theory gets it.
Mine's fitted with holding tank , too.
Boat lived on Georgian Bay for years.. no discharge zone, too.
Thanks
Greg
