Your Lottery Boat (Dream Boat)

Post by foofer b »

I know our Trojans are the cats meow for all of us, but you guys response to the GB post got me to thinking....

What would you get if you suddenly came into some serious money? Say a lottery, inheritance, stock windfall?

Here's mine...

Maybe a Viking 45 or a Legacey 45 something you could single handle if needed . Like when the boss is sleeping in and I don't want to wake her up to get under way .

i would do one of two things. take my tri cabin down to deltaville boat yard and tell them to redo her from stem to stern, inside and out. new everything, keep the woodwork inside though.
2nd.... since i'm a tree hugger, i'd love to get the greenline 40' hybrid yacht. i don't know how to post a pic, but, here is the website link. i was on her in annapolis and she is nothing short of amazing. great technology and i love the idea of slow speeds using no fossile fuels.

I'd get a 53 foot Hatteras MY. Looked at a couple last year - great boat and good classic lines.

In this down economy, I was watching one for sale in Spring Harbor, MI. It was a 1979 and was being sold by the original owner and had a total of 450 hours on the engines. Immaculate condition.

Price started at $349,900.00 in the spring of 2010 and actually sold for $198,500.00 in late October. Quite a steal.

I would like a Hatteras cockpit motor yacht as well...all the comforts and fishabilty thrown in.
But any sport fisherman from Viking, Hatteras, Rybovich, Paul Mann, ect.

Jeff, not sure about which model of Luhrs you're thinking of but over the past 6 years, the 41 has had nothing but complaints. One forum has about 106 pages worth of banter on the subject. Failing hulls, cracks, etc. Whereas Luhrs wouldn't step up to the plate and fix.
I do like the lines of some of their boats though. That's about where my likeness ends...
Oh yeah, almost forget! Sometimes you reap what you sow...

No question - True North. Probably the 38, but they all rock.

There are a few on our lake and all are gorgeous yachts. The back deck is so convenient - and right on the waterline.

I like my Trojans, and I'm with Paul on this one, I'd need something I could still singlehand as I am out by myself a lot of the time. I'd probably start looking around for a 14 meter. Those are really cool boats.

the greenline hybrid is a pipe dream at best. personally, i think a complete refit on my tri cabin would be the best way to go. new water proof (hhhaaaa) cabin windows, rebuilt helm windshield, maybe a raked fiberglass arch to allow for a hard top, new wiring, and plumbing systems... you know, just a basic update of a classic. i would also not mind replacing the current wire rope safety lined for stainless hand rails all around. oh, and newer more fuel efficient genset and the abolishment of the underwater exhaust system.
