What is missing?

Post by just4plaay »

We're looking at a boat and have a question about it. In the engine compartment under the helm (Driverside) there is something missing. Can anyone help us?

If I have this correct the system is a vacuum system. The pump builds vacuum in the white container, when you flush it all gets sucked up into the white container and then pumped down into the holding tank? Is there any special pump that I will need for it or will any self priming macerator pump work?

1. those hoses really need to be changed. they should be white, not an 'off colour'. i bet they are rank as all get out.
2. what year and model vessel are you looking at?

looks like an International.

The vacuflush system is simple, and nearly foolproof, at least when properly maintained and with all components present and functioning....

It's a 1983 Trojan International Express. We are looking at it together.

Better be sitting down when you price out that pump.
You can actually buy all the pump pieces and put one together for about 2/3 of the price of the pump. Very easy to do.
This guy explaines how to do it here:

Holy crap! $750? Is there a reason that this pump wouldn't work? It says that it will work with vacuum systems... http://shop.sailboatowners.com/prod.php ... aste+Pumps

Why not just upgrade to the new technology vacuflush and gain space by removing the vacuum tank? A new vacuflush head is around $400 at Defender.

I'm pretty sure that would take some extensive modifying of the bathroom to make work. The toilet in there currently is pretty much built into the wall/vanity mold.
