some more progress

Post by rspecops »

Thought I would post a pic of my weekend project on the F26 renovation. Finished the second coat of Pettit Protect on the bottom this afternoon. That stuff is not really easy to paint on, very thick. Hopefully next weekend there will be a pic of blue bottom paint complete with boot stripe.[img][/img]

Been working 10 months now on renovations. Posted a pic a little while back on the cockpit upgrade, all new paint including deck as well as teak and trim refinish, new gauges, switches and wiring for lower and upper helm. Thank goodness mechanical, engine and transmission are in good shape. It's a repower from original to a Crusader 350. She will be getting an all over complete new paint job. Interior is in good shape, only thing I will add is a hardwood floor, just a small area in the F26. After that new electronics, fish finders, plotter, fire suppresion system. Triple check all hoses and through hulls and it will be time to go fishing.

Looks great, but could I suggest black bottom paint instead of blue? I think the black looks the best IMHO :)

I kind of like the blue bottom paint. I think black gives the boat a more modern look and the blue gives it a more of a retro look. Am I way off base here?

I have a black bottom...talking about my boat here! Though there is just something about a Trojan with a blue or green bottom that just seems to look right. Again, talking about a boat

(giggle--- you should see MINE after 6 weeks of radiation!! it's called hyperpigmentation.) okay, now back to the boats. my god the green bottom paint brings back memories of my childhood. i so remember seeing the wooden trojans speeding along the potomac, those tall gleaming varnished troan masts and the green bottom paint. BUBALA3 had blue. always blue. black bootstrip and blue bottom paint. ahhh the 1970's. i remember as a kid swimming too close to the paint and it some of the blue ended up on my shoulder.

I don't know, but last spring I applied the black, and I'll never go back.

Bottom paint on the boat, of course :o

My bottom is blue which was original for my boat.

I think I'd prefer black though.

Black dont show the dirty and sludge and slop
