I ran across the website while googling Trojan parts. I have a 1976 36' Tri Cabin. Looked at MANY boats before buying this one. It has the best bang for the buck on the water. We are considering doing the loop. I have a couple of runabouts I have restored and have been boating on the Mississippi all of my life.

It is great to have a place to ask questions!

River Rat, just north of you a few 100 mi in RedWing MN. Been running the Mississippi my whole life too. Been on most of it from central MN down to St Louis. Much better than an inland lake. There is the option every Sunday to just head south and not look back... Welcome to the forum.

he will have to keep his speed down to 8-10 mph to keep his gas bill down. I'm travelling with a 36 Carver gasser and he is happy to get 0.8/1 mpg at that speed while i get 2.35 mpg with my diesels.
Now he can run away from me at 25/30 mph and 0.6 mpg when he needs to.

Not to hijack but, That's my Ready your getting over twice the mileage as the gaser, The marina I'm at is a big Looper stop, the gas boats complain about the lack of gas on the inter river system. If would like to expand on this lets start a tread....the loop is on my Bucket list, and the Bucket Starts to get used in 4yrs. 8months..... :D

You need to be able to do at least 250 miles between fuel stops
For looping info join the AGLCA, they have online forums covering this in detail.

from the defacto tri cabin historian on the site, (mom and dad had one from 1972 until 2008) welcome aboard. always great to see another tri cabin owner on here. and you're right. for her size, she's got a lot of livable space onboard for a 36 foot boat.
